From the Zogby poll #2
In reading the zogby survey in another thread, it became clear that theres too many questions to discuss them all in one thread.

This one seems pertinent to J/PS:
http://client.xntec.com/clientpages/oleary/report0104.html

"The National Rifle Association’s success in lobbying against gun control bills at the federal and state level prompted a survey question which asked:

“Do you agree or disagree the NRA is right to fight gun control legislation on both the federal and state levels?”

"Sixty-four percent of voters nationwide sided with the NRA in saying that the organization was right to fight gun control bills with 31% in disagreement. Among Democrats and Republicans, Democrats sided with the NRA by a 54% to 42% while Republicans sided with the NRA 73% to 22%. Gun owners and non-gun owners were similarly in agreement with gun owners agreeing with the NRA by a 78% to 18% margin and non-gun owners agreeing with the NRA by a 52% to 42% margin. What these results demonstrate is that the NRA is a clear winner on the question as 18% to 22% defection experienced among gun-owners and Republicans was more than offset by the 54% of Democrats and 52% of non-gun owners who also supported the NRA position."

"Among religious denominations, there continues to be a split with Catholics and Protestants supporting the NRA’s fight by 66% and 65% respectively and Jewish and Muslim voters opposing the NRA’s fight by margins of 81% and 88%."

This seems like a pretty cut and dry question.

1. Not exactly cut and dried.
The question is really dealing with whether any organization has the right to lobby for its own cause.

Do you agree that the Sierra Club is right to fight environmental decontrol legislation on both the state and federal levels?

The question did NOT ask if the responder believed in such legislation or wanted it.

Cut and dried, my Aunt Fanny.

2. I guess if you want to take it that way.
"Do you agree that the Sierra Club is right to fight environmental decontrol legislation on both the state and federal levels?"

I guess when someone asks me that, I feel I am being asked whether or not I agree with the Sierra Club fighting environmental decontrol legislation on both the state and federal levels.

I don't feel as if I am being asked if they have the right to do so.

But thats just me.
