Timothy McVeigh: NRA Member, Supporter of Gun Rights
Those who keep posting all those "supporter of gun rights" threads should bear this in mind. McVeigh supported gun rights, too.

5. Faulty Logic, TexMex
No one chooses to breathe air or not. But people choose whether or not to carry a gun. If you choose to carry, you're in some bad company.

6. Pathetic
He probably loved his mom too.

He probably voted too.

He probably did alot of things that you do.

Hitler was a vegetarian, that doesn't make vegetarians monsters.

McVeigh was a gun-owner, that doesn't make gun-owners monsters.

Nice try at painting with that broad brush. though.

Are you saying everyone that owns a gun is liable to blow up a Federal building with a bomb? I fail to see the connection between the gun and the bomb. If thats the best argument you have for further gun laws, I will sleep well tonight............

RKBA "logic"--glad I ain't got a speck of whatever that is rattling around in those heads.

In the "Why are we here" folder right now there's a stirring defense of gun nuts dressing up like Nazis and running around with machine guns because it's being done close to Ohio. Like THAT makes a difference.

27. Not True, Dems
McVeigh WAS in the military, and he WAS an NRA member. So it's safe to assume that soemwhere along the way, he used a gun.

Hell - even I'VE used a gun a few times - not since 1967, but a few times.

Underlining mine:

SUBJECT: Just goes to show you...

MESSAGE: ...that the biggest mass killers our country has had never used a gun.

There aren't too many different ways to take the phrase "had never used a gun". "Never" means "never", and in McVeigh's case that's flat-out incorrect.

46. So the simple can follow
Most mass murderers in the U.S. (so the Nazi Germany thing isn't brought up again) did not use a gun during the commission of their crimes. Does this clear it up?

36. Funny thing, Jeffery Dahmer didn't stand out, either
nor did Ted Bundy. As I recall, neither of them used a firearm to kill. I could be wrong on that, so correct me if necessary.

Hereafter, anyone who is considering breaking the law should carry a sign stating their intentions. Yea, that'll do it. Carry a sign.

14. The Point I Was Trying to Make
Edited on Thu Jan-22-04 06:13 PM by CO Liberal
A few people have been posting messages about different people (such as Carol Mosely Braun) supporting gun rights, as if seeing that will magically make some of use drop out pro-control positions. I was just trying to show how ridiculous those posts are by posting something that was completely opposite.

(Edited to correct the spelling of "posting".)

While the majority of gun owners are honest, decent people, there are a large number of "bad pples" in the bunch as well. Including leadership assholes like Wayne LaPierre and Ted Nugent, and one of the worse assholes of thm all, John Lott/Mary Rosh.

If pro-gunners want to be taken seriously, they need to weed out the bad apples.
