Man arrested for open carry at Wall Mart

A customer expecting to see great deals waved down authorities after she saw something else: a man packing a gun while waiting in line at a Black Friday sale.
Police arrested Christopher D. Scott, 49, as he was waiting in a checkout line at a Wal-Mart in Boynton Beach on Friday.
Officers were on patrol at the store at 3200 Old Boynton Rd., due to the large Thanksgiving night crowd seeking early bargains.
Scott is charged with two counts of carrying a concealed firearm and three counts each of carrying a prohibited weapon and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription

Best reason I know of to make sure you are legal in other states.

The guy is a retired cop who had the proper permits to carry in Arizona. His arsenal seems a bit over the top, and his only problem seems to be a serious misunderstanding of Florida's reciprocity laws. His permit would have been good in Florida if he'd been doing concealed carry, but he was trying to open carry in a state that doesn't permit it.

8. If he's retired law enforcement, he doesn't need a permit anywhere

Under the Law Enforcement Officers' Safety Act of 2004, he should be able to carry in every state, provided he has a photo ID issued by his former agency. Yes, that doesn't allow you to carry openly in Florida, but as the article says, if he was carrying openly, how could they charge him with carrying concealed? This is a pretty confused story.

10. I keep an 11 round 1911 mag (.45acp) and 30 round gock mag (9mm) in my glovebox.

No matter what I'm carrying that day, if I need a spare mag... I want it to be big.

I'd own an FN FiveseveN if the ammo prices weren't obscene for a trumped up 22magnum.
It has a reasonably sized 30rnd mag that isn't 10 inches long.

Ever shot 30+ rounds out of a pistol? I shoot 32 and 50 round 9mm mags occasionally.
About halfway through you think, "Damn this alot of bullets, LOL!"

It's not too difficult to research if a state is open carry or not before you walk around with gun(s) on your hip. He's a dumbass, but one with no criminal intent, apart from dumbassery apparently. The prosecutor may take that into account hopefully.

Glock .40 mags hold 13 rounds (Glock 23), 15 rounds (Glock 22), or two more if one uses Plus Twos.

Scherer .40 mags hold 29 rounds, but I really can't imagine someone carrying one of those. Maybe, but I'm skeptical.

14. I have several 30 round mags for my glock that I take to the range with me.

I can easily switch between my 26 or 17 without having to reload so damn much.

Also for my 26, with the extra weight of the mag, it will reduce recoil a bit. I only use it for slow shooting.

Florida Law enforcement is used to and has no problem with concealed carry.
