1. Police spokesman - multiple instances of "friendly fire" possible.

He said some officers fired weapons and investigators are trying to determine whether there was any civilian gunfire

"We are investigating the circumstances of the shooting," Guglielmi said. "We know some officers discharged their weapons. All we can say is multiple people were shot: four civilians, two police officers."

"It's unclear, the shooting part. We know officers fired their weapons and we're trying to root out why and whether was any civilian gunfire," he said.

edit; No shots fired inside the club, only outside after officers arrived?

3. The "civilian" killed was reportedly an assailant shot by the police officer...

and the officer may have been accidentally shot by other officers; it is too early to tell.

(And LEO's are subject to the civil law as well, not the UCMJ, unless they are MP's.)

4. So much for Maryland's rather restrictive gun laws
or weren't you aware that Maryland has very strict gun laws:

"Right-To-Carry Law Type: Restrictive May Issue. The "may issue" is more often "no way". The categories for "may issue" are: making deposits; receiving money or cash flow; professional activities like doctors or pharmacies; correctional officers; former police officer; private detective and personal protection. For personal protection there must be documented evidence of recent threats, robberies, and/or assaults, supported by official police reports or notarized statements from witnesses. This state also requires permits for body armor."
