...it's a lot safer than it used to be. I'm too lazy to research it, but I would say it's one of the country's safest large cities.

and the police force is cut by 50% as of today, courtesy of the Governor.

9. Safest would be El Paso, TX.

In 2010 they had only two murders. El Paso has about 750,000 people and has more guns than people.

8. Tough call

Charles Schumer, Robert De Niro and other New York notables, including Ronal Lauder, Harvey Keitel, Howard Stern, Donald Trump, Tommy Mottola, Paul Sorvino, Chazz Palminteri, Joan Rivers, and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are among the 3,600 city dwellers licensed to carry a loaded weapon, according to the NYPD. All those folks seem pretty white to me and Joan Rivers must the "token female."

Only about 30,000 private licenses exist out of almost 8 million residents. All but 3,600 of these licenses are held by retired law enforcement personnel.

Maybe a black retired cop slipped past them somehow?

13. With his criminal record? No way.

MLK got himself tossed in jail often enough that he'd be all sorts of a red flag for anyone issuing permits. He was a pretty divisive figure during his time on earth. I have no doubt he'd been even more divisive if he'd been allowed to live. Some times we need a man willing to rock the boat.
