2. Stupidity Brought to You By Our Moronic Republican Legislators
Under marching orders from the gun lobby to wipe out local control. I'm afraid this will only lead to more shootings.

3. You guys put that legislature in office
you are going to have to deal with the laws they pass. It's called democracy.

This is wonderful. You aren't going to have to worry about the people seeking permits. The ones you are going have to worry about are those who do not seek a permit to carry and caryy, nonetheless.

This is a good thing for Colorado.

5. Not Me!!!!!
It's not MY fault there are too many assholes in this state who will only vote for morons with (R) after their name.

And I don't care what you think - I worry about ANYONE who feels the need to carry a gun.

This is a thoroughly SUCKY thing for Colorado.

Then why are we having this discussion?

Me thinks you are taking after another J/PS poster...(cry me a river)

Frankly, I expected more from you. Guess not.

12. You know something...
I never felt the need to carry a gun, either. Until last August when I was the victim of an attempted carjacking and home robbery (with me inside).

Whereas I do NOT want to see you or anybody the victim of crime, you must respect the fact that some people feel, for whatever reason, compelled to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their property.

I cannot understand anybody who would deny a citizen that right, because they hate/fear guns or gun owners.

No, this is a VERY good thing for Colorado and the rest of America.

14. OK, if you can't see
why I (for example) need to carry a gun, then I think our discussion and future ones will be moot.

I will continue to carry a gun as provided by the law, and encourage those who feel a similar need to apply for a permit.

Your position, frankly, baffles me. I thought you had no problem with the law-abiding who safely carry and conceal guns? Maybe I was wrong?

15. I Have a Problem With The Entire Concept of Carrying
I'm 50 years old and have lived in many different areas, including a year in Belleville NJ - the town next to Newark. And not once have I ever felt the need or desire to have a gun with me.

That's why the concept is so foreign to me......

16. Well, I'm 30 years old
have lived in many places to include:

Germany, Korea, Oklahoma, Washington State, Missouri, and Virginia. I never felt the need, either, to carry a gun until last year when I was a victim of 2 separate crimes on the same weekend.

23. It is not about 'need'
It is about preparedness.

I carry, and I never have felt the 'need' to, but I have always felt that to be prepared for the worse (and hoping for the best) to be the best way to go. Could be something driven into my head by my scoutmaster or my DS, I dunno. I also always carry a leatherman and a compass.

I would even say that those that routinely feel some type of 'need' to carry a gun, probably shouldnt.

29. Assuming Colorado's system is similar to...
...Michigan's to get a CCW you have to get fingerprinted and background checked, take a class, have range time and pay a fee to get the license. You have said numerous times that you have no problem with law abiding people protecting themselves with a gun. Why have you changed your mind about law abiding people carrying?

18. well, apparently a fair number of cops disagree with you...
"George Epp, executive director of the County Sheriffs of Colorado, said the changes are fine with most of his group.

"The majority (of sheriffs in Colorado) think that if citizens are appropriately trained and screened, then they should have it (the permit)," he said. "It adds to public safety." "

I'm wondering if you'd oppose a law putting 100,000 new cops on the streets in Colorado. After all, it would result in more people carrying guns...

8. I worry about anyone who is in fear as well
But speaking only for myself, if I lived in a shall-issue state I'd get the permit and probably never (or only very rarely) use it.

Let them sit for months or even years....this should be the lowest priority of law enforcement, behind dog and bicycle licenses and community outreach.

6. CO, you've been saying that as long as I've been reading DU
Please let us know when it happens. Based on the track record of all of the other states that allow concealed carry I'm not going to waste a moment worrying about it next time I visit Colorado.

22. I truly, sincerely feel for you
Not sorry exactly, but empathy. It must be a terrible burden worrying every day about getting shot.

The only feeling I have that might be comparable is my daily worry about getting in a car crash. I have an 18-year-old whiplash injury from a major accident in which I was rear-ended and my car demolished. My back is very sensitive and can be set into spasms by someone poking me unexpectedly in the ribs or kidney area.

I'm extremely concerned at all times about what other drivers are going to do next. The anxiety literally gives me headaches.

24. I Feel Your Pain .... Literally
I was rear-ended three years ago on the Interstate. $4,500 damage to my truck, and two damaged disks in my lower back. I wear a TENS unit and take prescription painkillers every day to make the pain somewhat manageable, and I dread the daily trip on the Interstate with the lousy drivers with whom I share the road.

Now citizens can exercise their inalienable right to defend self and property and be as well armed as criminals and law enforcement officers who don't have an inalienable RKBA.
