12 "slugs" in 2 seconds?
Can you guys shoot a semi-auto that fast?

I can't.

Why do you ask?

2. Mine won't hold that many.
And if it did, I am not that fast. I don't even know what "good" competition times are.

3. I think he is alluding to...
The deceptive website put out by the Brady bunch that uses appeal to emotion in an attempt to justify renewal of the assault weapons ban.

The claim from the website:

"The NRA wants Congress to legalize military-style semi-automatic weapons -- lethal killing machines that can put 12 slugs in a cop's body in 2 seconds."

15. Its very possible
You just need 6 people shooting 6 guns to get 12 bullets fired in 2 seconds.

4. They are so worried about assault rifles
Jerry Miculek can shoot six reload and shoot six in two seconds and puts all 12 in the target. Oh he uses a S&W 625 relvover. If any of you guys get the History channel and notice the show called Tales of the gun Smith and Wesson, there is a part at the end showing Jerry shooting.

7. Yup. Some quick draw artists - and I do mean artists - can do it
IT's a joy to watch some of these guys in action. If you ever get the opportunity - go see for yourself!

8. Yeah, Isaw that but forgot the times.
BTW, are 12 shots from a 5.56 more lethal than one .78 cal. slug?

5. Well, I can't...
but...well, this is gonna get some folks uppity, but theres this thing:

Its called the BMF activator.

"it simply pulls and releases the trigger at a higher rate of speed than you can obtain with your finger"

I guess they're ok by the ATF.

""Mr. Yorks patent application covering a hand cranked device intended to be attached to the trigger mechanism of a semi-automatic weapon, has been reviewed by this branch and it is our opinion that a manually operated device of this type is not subject to any of the provisions og the Gun Control Act of 1968." (I hope I got that right, it was a scanned letter)

6. you don't need one of those
I can "bump" fire a 10 round clip in a pistol in about 2 seconds just by working the trigger real fast. but there's no point, the first shot may be on target but the rest are no where near. also don't try it with anything bigger than a 22lr. I've seen Bob Munden do it with a 1911.
the "tac-trigger" and those other devices only work in the hands of absolute experts and come with a bunch of legal disclaimers.

11. Or if you're on the street
You might hit a little girl in an upstairs apartment across the street...

But don't worry...there's a whole multi-million-dollar gun lobby to protect you and try and make sure you can do just that.

10. Yes but not accurately
The best I've done is five paper plates at 10 yards in just over two seconds with my 1911 (.45 caliber semiautomatic handgun) starting aimed at the first plate.

I once had a position at a range next to a German guy who could draw from a hoster and put five rounds through paper plates in 1.7 seconds. He could repeat the demonstration pretty reliably.

17. I certainly couldn't.
But if Ed McGivern could fire 5 shots out of a double action revolver in two-fifths of a second into a playing card, well, I'm sure someone could probably do it, and do it accurately, if they had enough practice.

19. You can empty a magazine as fast as you can pull the trigger
and you can pull a trigger about 20 times in 5 seconds. That only comes to 8 rounds in 2 seconds, so obviously Sarah Brady hates America, the Constitution, and mom's apple pie. (oh yeah, she's a communist baby killer too)
