Can't own gun means can't own bullets CT Senate sends ban for house approval
HARTFORD — State lawmakers are looking to take ammunition out of the hands of anyone who cannot legally possess firearms.

On Thursday, the Senate voted 21-13 to enact such a ban, sending the measure to the House for final action in the legislature, provided the legislation is not amended.

Supporters and opponents debated the rationale for the limited ammunition ban and its implications on the state and federal constitutional rights to bear arms.

Sen. Kevin D. Witkos, R-Canton, a police sergeant, argued the legislation makes sense, and the proposed prohibition will protect public safety.

1. Fair enough - as long as the prohibition is fairly and correctly applied to the individual
I would consider it unfair, however, if they piled on both charges for a person caught with both items; seems like that would be double-dipping...

2. USC 922 specifies both..
Unless there's something hinky like requiring a background check for ammunition, sounds reasonable.
