http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chibrknews-oklahoma-man-arrested-at-ohare-charged-for-carrying-loaded-bag-20110601,0,913877.story

A 44-year-old Oklahoma man was arrested and charged Tuesday for carrying a loaded handgun in his carry-on while going through security at O'Hare International Airport, officials said.

Christopher Baldridge was arrested early Tuesday morning when airport security spotted a loaded gun inside his backpack, police said.

He was charged with boarding an aircraft with a weapon, a felony.

A published report said Baldridge told authorities it was his first visit to Chicago and that he foolishly brought along the gun for protection.

7. How many people board aircraft every day?
How many are caught carrying firearms?

All this proves is that there are some fools in any large group of people.

Would you take computers from everybody because a few people are hackers?

15. A handgun is a legitimate defensive weapon ...
that can be misused by criminals to murder or commit crime. The person who owns the weapon is responsible for the results if the weapon is used. In many cases concealed weapons stop crime without requiring a shot. Since a handgun is not a particularly lethal weapon many times a criminal can survive being shot by an honest citizen.

Handguns and firearms are inanimate objects and not either good or evil. They can be used for a variety of sporting activity which does not always involve killing.

4. What's not clear to me is that...
he's from Oklahoma, but actually in O'Hare, so apparently returning home I guess, because one doesn't go through security upon arrival. That's when he's stopped? Not when he's in Oklahoma enroute to Chicago, right? Was he actually on the plane, seeing how he was charged with 'boarding an aircraft with a weapon', or was he stopped at security? The article is unclear, but I believe there are legitimate questions. Dumbass, absolutely, but the details are unclear at best.

11. I wonder if he got snagged by
Chicago's pro-criminal gun laws. I've heard of folks checking a firearm with their luggage (perfectly legal) and not realizing the idiocy of the laws in their stop-over or destination state. Try and check a pistol in with your luggage in Chicago and the shit will hit the fan.
