I've read several times in this forum that a concealed pistol will be worthless when you're confronted with gun pointed at you, so file this one under "I for Impossible."
Man dead after trying to rob medical marijuana grower Investigators have determined a Hispanic male, 30, was issued an Arizona Medical Marijuana Identification on May 25. The card allowed him to cultivate and possess marijuana. He began advertising medical marijuana for sale to those who had a medical marijuana identification card.
On Thursday, two black male suspects contacted the grower and they arranged to meet at an apartment complex near 17th and Missouri avenues to make the purchase.
The grower asked to see their medical marijuana i.d. and one of the suspects indicated he had his card in his apartment, luring the grower to the back of the complex.
Once they were out of sight, suspect Larry Miller, 38, got out a gun and attempted to rob the grower of his marijuana.
A struggled ensued which resulted in the grower retrieving his own gun and shooting Miller.
The second suspect, a black male in his mid 20s, fled the area with grower's backpack which is believed to contain marijuana.
The grower called 911 and provided aid to Miller until paramedics arrived. Miller was transported to the hospital where he later died.
Two things stood out to me in this article:
1) The criminal already had a gun on the drug dealer when the dealer got his gun and shot the crook. (But wait - that can't happen!)
2) The drug dealer then proceeded to render aid to the man he shot until paramedics arrived. (I thought all gun carriers were stone-cold killers... isn't this guy going to ruin that reputation?)
Well maybe three things....
3) I thought drug crime would go away after drugs were legalized? :) (I had to laugh at that one; I strongly support legalization, but I'm not so naive as to pretend that would end drug-related crimes.)
