Citilink to let riders carry guns on its buses (Fort Wayne)
FORT WAYNE – Starting next month, Citilink patrons will be allowed to ride with their guns, despite safety concerns from the transit company.

Citilink’s board of directors on Thursday is scheduled to vote on a new weapons policy to comply with state law, essentially allowing passengers to bring their guns on board.

Ken Housden, Citilink general manager, said the transit system’s current weapons policy does not comply with the new law. He said he isn’t thrilled with the changes, but his organization can’t ignore the new state statute.

“Guns and public transportation are not a good mix,” he said. “We can’t change the law.”

Oh No! Blood running in the bus aisles!

3. Yes, because someone might hijack a bus and fly it to Cuba.
Or not.

5. And prohibiting licensed carry on buses would alter that, how?
The only thing that barring licensed carry does is to force carry license holders to drive personal vehicles, and I'll bet the overall safety delta for that policy is negative.

7. Which will happen right after the blood in the streets, and shootouts over parking spaces.
So long as we're invoking ludicrously impossible claims about the horrible results of people being allowed to defend themselves. After all, it's not as if someone intent on running down schoolchildren could do so without hijacking a bus. And of course, if someone were to act out this absurd idea of yours, they could NEVER go through with it if they weren't legally allowed to bring that gun on the bus!

11. No wait! If we let CCWers carry on buses, they won't shoot each other over parking spaces!
And then where would the gun control lobby's predictions be?

14. Suuure, Myrna: "I *was* gonna get those little brats but I don't have a permit, dammit!"
I'm truly amazed at the number of people who claim with a straight face that the only thing holding back untold numbers of spree

killers is the lack of a pistol permit-and then wonder why we don't take them (the posters) seriously...

12. I was having difficulty with a few items until I noticed the preemption statute isn't in effect yet
I was wondering why the hold up, or the need for a vote to change a policy that "does not comply with the law" (i.e. is illegal) until I saw the law goes into effect July 1st. I was already having visions of being pulled over for speeding and informing the cop that my wife and I were scheduled to vote on a new car-driving policy that would bring us into compliance with the law as of the 1st of next month, have a nice day, officer.
