Stray bullets kill NYC friends, 8 months apart

A 16-year-old girl killed by a stray bullet at a New York City beach had recently lost her best friend to a similar crime.

Tysha Jones was spending a school holiday on the boardwalk in Brooklyn's Brighton Beach on Thursday when two gunmen opened fire on a group of men in the crowd. Four people were wounded. Police say Tysha was hit by an errant shot.

Her family says Tysha's best friend, 17-year-old Cheyenne Baez, was fatally shot in October in a Harlem playground.

They say Cheyenne was also an innocent bystander.
