Despite Reese's objection, District 6 no longer allows guns in (school) buildings

Guns are no longer allowed in any building owned or operated by Greeley-Evans School District 6.

The Board of Education voted 4-1 to change a district policy that previously allowed guns in buildings other than schools.

Member Brett Reese voted against the passage, saying it was a violation of Second Amendment rights. Mark Hinze and Julia Richard were not present.

“Taking my gun away because I might shoot someone is like taking my tongue out because I might yell fire in a crowded theater,” Reese said. “It's a simple fact, isn't that a simple fact when you think about it? It's like taking a pencil away because you might misspell a word.”
