Libya style...

I really have to admire their ability to improvise and make do with what they have on hand.

1. Well, that's one way to keep people from tailgating you
I wouldn't mind borrowing that to use commuting on the Dan Ryan Expressway. Might get a lane all to myself.

2. I've seen some crazy improvised weapons in my time...
But mounting those UB-32 rocket pod mounted on a pickup truck, definitely takes the cake.

10. It's reminiscent of Bosnian Serb "MABs" - Modified Aerial Bombs
During the siege of Sarajevo, one thing the Serbs did to increase their firepower was take "dumb" aircraft bombs (which they couldn't use in the intended fashion due to a) a lack of aircraft and b) Operation Deny Flight), strapping rocket engines to them and firing them from the backs of trucks. Essentially a jury-rigged V-1, and inaccurate as hell, but then, when you're aiming at a target the size of a city, who cares?

3. Back in the day we tried a quad 50 on an M151. Could only fire to the
rear; fire forwasd and it did a wheelie, to either side it rolled over . . .

9. Yeah, I bet that raised up the cg quite a bit.
A Ma Deuce weights over a hundred pounds if memory serves. x4, four feet above the floorpan, plus the ammo... ouch.

I'm pretty sure I recall seeing some in central Africa in the early 80's when I lived there.

6. Technicals have been around for quite some time, but I think the Libyans
have taken them to a whole new level.

7. I worked for GDLS a while back.
I had heard that the Mk44 on the EFV was rate restricted to prevent it from capsizing due to broadside fire.
Any one know if that's true?

11. Huh, seems the Libyan government's been buying FNH hardware
Witness the FN F2000 rifle with GL1 grenade launcher. Ah, I see: according to this piece on Expatica, in 2009, Libya purchased
367 F2000 assault rifles, 367 P90 submachine guns, 367 Five-Seven handguns, 20 Minimi light machine guns, 22,000 rifle grenades and 1.134 million rounds of ammunition for these weapons, for a total value of 6.9 million euros
to equip a special forces battalion.

According to the same article, the regional government of Wallonia is under investigation for granting an export license for this sale. Not that I think that'll do much; the EU arms embargo to Libya was lifted in 2004, and honestly, the Walloon economy doesn't have a lot going for it except FNH.
