If The Conceal Carry Bill Becomes Law, What Does That Mean?
If the proposed conceal carry bill becomes law, the only other state in the union not to allow conceal carry would be Illinois. The Senate version of the bill passed this week. The Assembly is set to vote on in the measure either Tuesday or Wednesday.

We came up with a number of questions, researched the Assembly version of the bill (AB 126) and talked to local law enforcement officials about the bill. Here’s what we found:

If passed, what would the conceal carry law do?

The law would:

•create a licensing system under which an individual is permitted to carry a concealed weapon.
•make changes in Wisconsin law to account for a federal law that requires the state to permit an individual who works as or who formerly worked as a federal, state, tribal, or local law enforcement officer in Wisconsin or in any other state to carry a concealed firearm.
•make changes to laws regulating firearms and other weapons.

I would accomplish a lot of good and very little if any harm.

1. From reading that article...
...I get the impression that the law banning tazers will be lifted as well. Is this correct?

2. Electronic weapons-from the article
"What guns and dangerous weapons can be concealed?

You can conceal carry a handgun, an electric weapon, or a knife other than a switchblade, or a billy club"

4. Yeah, that's what I was talking about.
I know up until now electric weapons were banned, so I was wondering if I was correct in taking this to mean the ban will be lifted as well. We had open carry in the state for many years, but you still couldn't open carry an electric weapon.

3. That means that some innocent citizen will be able to legally defend himself ...
using possibly the most effective self defense tool available against an attack that might result in serious injury or death.

In many cases no shots will be fired but the attacker will decide to run away. In some cases the citizen with the legally concealed firearm will shoot and win and in some he will lose. The guys in white hats don't always win in real life.

6. Obviously that's a joke...
but only seven states don't allow carry into restaurants that serve alcohol, and three of those are in the prohibitionist Bible Belt. Most blue states allow licensed carry into restaurants that serve alcohol as long as the carrier is not drinking, even Massachusetts.

From what I'm seeing, the only states that don't allow carry in restaurants that serve alcohol are North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, and North Dakota (and my state of NC may not be in that category for much longer).

10. Statistically, you would be correct it seems..
...but for those who successfully defend themselves while carrying, it has a huge effect.
