Florida improves concealed weapons law ...

Fla. Gov. Scott signs accident gun showing bill
Posted on Friday, 06.17.11

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- People with concealed weapons licenses will no longer face arrest for accidentally letting their guns show.

Gov. Rick Scott on Friday signed a new law (SB 234) decriminalizing such unintended displays. It's effective immediately.

Those who intentionally openly carry a weapon could still face jail time.

4. Actually that is about the only good thing he has done so far and this is why
one of my county commissioners, who carried due to many death threats, got in trouble because the wind pushed his jacket back and exposed the pistol grip. The law should deal with real wrong doing and not petty trivia

6. Why would a governor not vote to improve a very successful program?
You can scream bloody murder all day long about how terrible it is to allow honest citizens who live in a state that has "shall issue" concealed carry to be allowed to carry a firearm concealed if they meet the qualifications and obtain a license.

But as I have pointed out many times, states such as Florida have found their "shall issue" concealed carry programs to be popular and successful and the fact that licensed citizens can carry concealed on the street may actually reduce crime.

At any rate since the 1987 start of the concealed weapons program in Florida only 168 concealed weapons permits have been revoked because of a crime involving a firearm committed after the license was issued. Many of those licenses were revoked because the bearer accidentally brought his weapon into a restricted area. Since the program stated Florida as issued 1,992,296 concealed weapons permits and 819,135 are currently valid.
Ref: http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/stats/cw_monthly.html

Please explain to me why none of the states on this map that have "shall issue" concealed carry haven't revoked it by now if the law is so bad?
