The Brooklyn gunman who opened fire on a pack of noisy teens was hailed as a hero Monday by the most unlikely of people - the mother of the woman he inadvertantly wounded.
Larisa Kaprovskaya said Thomas Dunikowski was just trying to protect them from a neighborhood threat when he got his gun.
"He shot because he wants to protect us," said Kaprovskaya, 50. "I don't know what would have happened to us if he didn't try to protect us. I appreciate him."

Yana Kaprovskaya was not badly hurt, her mother said. She said Dunikowski stood up for them after the cops disregarded their pleas for help.

Sounds like some neigbors were fed up. And if this guy fired 30 rounds he was either the worst shot in the world or not really aiming at the teens. Again not the way to solve the problem but if authorities don't then they are at least partially to blame. As well as the teens and their parents if they are disturbing and vandalizing the neighborhood.
