OHIO: Governor signs two pro-RKBA bills into law. CCW OK in restaurants that serve alcohol.
http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Read.aspx?ID=6964

Today, Governor John Kasich signed both Senate Bill 17 and House Bill 54 into law. SB 17 is important concealed carry reform legislation and HB 54 will provide individuals a pathway to restore their firearm rights.

Senate Bill 17, sponsored by state Senator Tim Schaffer (R-31), eliminates the current confusing standards of carrying a firearm in a motor vehicle. In addition, this bill also allows permit holders to carry a firearm for self-defense in a restaurant that serves alcohol, provided the individual is not consuming alcohol, thus eliminating another “victim zone” in Ohio.

House Bill 54, sponsored by state Representatives Ron Maag (R-35) and Jarrod Martin (R-70), would bring Ohio in compliance with federal law to provide for the restoration of firearm rights for certain individuals.

Another small gain for RKBA. We are the backlash since 1987.

4. Oh get over yourself, Hoyt.
Unless you want to honestly argue that nobody going to a restaurant has ever had a need to defend themselves (which you can't) then your position literally has zero legs to stand on. But of course, you have to be used to that at this point.

12. Live in fear if you have to, but don't pollute society with more guns to allay your irrational fears

13. Don't pollute society with more ignorance to allay YOUR irrational fear of guns...
...and those that carry them. You can try and ignore defensive gun usage as much as you want, but it doesn't change the reality.

15. Don't have fear of guns. It's people who carry them, bombs or swords in public that concern me.

While you may be "pure," a lot of gun toters aren't.

16. You say "a lot" but what is "a lot?"
According to evidence helpfully supplied to us by the VPC, it would appear that CCW permit holders tend to come from the more law abiding segment of the population. They as a group have a significantly lower violent crime rate than the rest of the population in general.

So are you talking about actual crimes committed, or are you just talking about people that YOU just think are going around looking to shoot somebody?

21. FBI has my
fingerprints, they also have the fingerprints of a "lot" of others that carry, it's part of the approval process in a "lot" of states. One would think the FBI knows who needs to be approved and who not, what say you?

20. Statistics prove that it is you that is irrational...
you have been shown statistics that show that those who are licensed to carry concealed weapons are the absolute cream of our society as far as committing crime with their weapons. They have a lower crime rate with their firearms than even the police.

Like most individuals who post in favor of limiting the licensed carry of firearms you seem unable to present any facts to support your views and all you can do is to demean those who do legally carry.

I'm retired and post on DU while I'm watching the news. I have no problem replying to your posts as it gives me something to do and keeps my mind active. However it would be nice if you would take the time to do some research and post logical arguments supported by facts or links that support your view. If you did, I would find replying far more interesting and challenging.

For example you often accuse those who carry as having irrational fears. Present some data to back your view up.

If anything, all you are doing is allowing lurkers who are undecided on the gun control issue to see the pro-RKBA side of the story. Your emotional and somewhat insulting arguments will do little to convince an undecided person that you are correct.

...we'd sing their praises as well. Somehow I doubt you would react this way to Republicans supporting, say, Gay Rights...

http://newmexicoindependent.com/70449/nationally-state-republicans-increasingly-back-gay-rights

I don't just blindly support one part and blindly oppose another. If somebody from the other part supports something that I also support, then I will praise them for it.

25. A poster with a "Solidarity" avatar complaining about open expression?
Ah, the irony....

Frankly, if a Pub does something that Democrats should have done (but didn't), they ought to be praised- Richard Nixon

establishing the Environmental Protection Agency via executive order, or Bush the First signing the Americans With Disabilities

Act into law are the most obvious examples.

I daresay your "concern" is directed more towards reestablishing some sort of party line equating "being a Democrat"

with "supports gun control". That approach only serves to enable Republicans.
