Police went to the 4500 block of Tacoma Avenue near Helen Steiner Rice school where witnesses were yelling and screaming at Mario Ayala, who was in an argument with several other people who were on Willow Avenue.
Officers ordered Ayala to show his hands. Ayala threw an empty handgun magazine to the ground and was handcuffed and placed into a cruiser. On one side of Willow Avenue were a group of Ayala’s friends who were arguing with a group of neighbors who said they saw Ayala fire the gun, according to the report.
As police were arresting Ayala, someone picked up the magazine and hid it, the report stated.
