Three people were robbed at gunpoint early Friday morning as they left the southwest side restaurant where they work.

The robbery happened shortly after 1:30 a.m. at the Buffalo Wild Wings on Georgesville Road.

6. Hell if I wanted to rob a store, a store with a sign like that would be my choice ...

especially in Florida. I wouldn't have to fear running into someone with a carry permit. People who have carry permits are glad to not violate the "no guns signs that store owners post, we just take our business elsewhere.

I can't remember the last time I saw such a sign on a store in Florida. I'd be willing to bet that the store owners who once had such signs pulled them down when they realized how much business they were losing or they went out of business.

If I ran a store and my competition put up a "no-guns" sign, I would hang a sign welcoming people with carry permits on my door.

...that developed the gas shortage in the '70s developed all these gun free zones. They work in a somewhat analogous fashion. See in the '70s we found out that there was only a shortage of cheap gas.

ALBUQUERQUE -- A man attacking his ex-wife with a knife inside a southeast Albuquerque Wal Mart was shot and killed by a 72-year-old man Thursday evening.

It all happened around 5:30 p.m. at the store on San Mateo near Zuni. There was mayhem and confusion inside a southeast Albuquerque Wal Mart as employees and shoppers were sent fleeing by the sound of gunfire.

The victim in this case is 46-year old Joyce Cordova. She is in critical but stable condition at this time at UNM Hospital.

Albuquerque Police say Cordova had a long history of domestic violence with ex-husband Felix Vigil. A co-worker says Cordova was working in the deli was attacked by her ex-husband.

Vigil was shot to death by 72-year old Due Moore. Police won't say how many shots were fired, but some witnesses tell News 13 they heard at least three shots.

Police say Moore had a concealed carry license and is a well-known volunteer with APD's cold case unit.

“It’s probably a very good thing he (Moore) was there,” says APD Sgt. Trish Hoffman. “Ms. Cordova may not be here today if it had not been for him.”

Police say there was a valid restraining order in place against the victim's ex-husband.

Police say Moore has been very cooperative and has not been charged with any crime.

Call me crazy, but that doesn't sound like a great plan. Suppose the robber figured as long as he had people alone and under control, it would be fun to add a little rape to the situation. Would your advice still be that they should just lay back and be helpless victims?

Believe it or not, but most robberies, rapes, and murders do NOT take place on crowded noontime street corners where there are lots of other people around.

Also believe it or not, but most defensive uses of a firearm never require you to fire.

25. In Minnesota we have...

...a local gun forum at which we post photos of the signs and the names and business addresses of establishments that are posted "No Carry Zones". It's a good way to avoid these places to:
-keep out of legal trouble
-make sure you don't accidentally spend money there
-pass along to friends to do the same
-write letters to the owners letting them know they are losing business due to policy

It's actually worked out favorably in getting some places to change policy. We also post those changes and go out of our way to support those businesses. Pretty neat stuff!
