(13 Y.O. girl shot) East St. louis Police track down missing gun, investigation continues

In East St. Louis, police are trying to find out how a gun ended up in the hands of a 13-year-old girl.

The investigation is taking work. The girl had a gunshot to the side of her torso that appears accidental, but when police arrived, the gun was gone.

Neighbor Dorothy Ivory is one of the moms on North 76th Street who say she watches her kids and the other kids like a hawk. Ivory says she wasn't surprised when she heard.

"It was like a pop," Ivory said.

1. Here's another excerpt from the same story...

That gunshot sent a 13-year-old girl to the hospital. Ivory says it came from a house where the teenagers are unsupervised often.

"If you're not spending enough time with your kids, that's what they gonna do, they're going to find something to do," said Ivory.

In this case, Ivory says the 13-year- old shooting victim was at the house visiting her teenage cousins.

So we have a teenager with a gun, that apparently nobody knows who owns it, at a house with no adult supervision. I wonder what else they were doing at that house?

2. The gun was not found but they
thought it was self inflicted. I think you should have followed the story and post it after the investigation.

3. Throw against wall. Determine if it sticks. Continue until it does.
