It gets worse from there. The officer tells my guy that "I should blast you right in the mouth." "I'm close to caving in your head." "You are a stupid human being." "How would you like it if I pull mine and stick it to your head." When speaking to another officer, he says "I hate these (expletive deleted) with their (gd) permits." And, again, later tells my client "I should have taken 2 steps back, put 10 rounds in your (expletive deleted) and left you lying there. I should have executed you, and I'd go home and sleep good tonight."

Actually there are a lot of good reasons but I'll add this to the list.

I know a lot of cops in Florida and none of them act like this. Even when concealed carry was new in Florida, I don't remember hearing of any cases where a police officer treated a person with a concealed weapons permit with this much contempt. I wonder if these cops treat other minorities in the same fashion.

If this is actually on the cruiser video there is no excuse for why the cops involved are not out pounding the payment looking for a new job.

I am not in favor of all the foolish law suits we see in this country, but if I had been treated in such a manner and the evidence was on video I would sue unless the officers involved were fired. The money is irrelevant but if it took the threat of a large lawsuit to get those officers off the street, I would do it. If the city refused, I would carry out the threat and if I won I would then donate the money (except for my legal costs) to charity.

In Florida I was pulled over for any expired license tag six or seven years ago. I'm not required to notify the officer that I have a permit and am carrying, but I handed him my drivers license, my registration and insurance card and my concealed weapons permit. He just glanced at the permit and showed absolutely no concern. I got a ticket but the officer politely explained to me where I had to go to handle it. The officer was very professional and I appreciated it.

I suspect the renewal notification never made it to my mail box. I was living in Tampa at the time and it wasn't unusual to get mail for people who lived several streets from me. After the incident, I put a reminder on my computer calendar for my driver's license renewal.

I've lived in the Tampa Bay area of Florida and north Florida.

I've known people who had lived in Miami and they were glad to leave. Miami is not representative of all Florida.

Some things from the video stand out:
-The permit holder repeatedly tried to inform the officers and was told to shut up
-The officer threatened to beat one of the passengers
-What was the probable cause for the search?
-Who searches a car without asking the driver to exit?
-Officer threatens to harass the driver any time he sees the driver again
