Ind. boy, 5, accidentally shoots, kills brother, 2, after finding gun in box in family's home

CONNERSVILLE, Ind. — Eastern Indiana police say a 5-year-old boy accidentally shot his 2-year-old brother to death after finding a gun in the family's home.

WTHR-TV in Indianapolis reports that investigators believe the children's mother was home at the time of Thursday night's shooting but that the handgun was not locked up in the home in Connersville about 50 miles east of Indianapolis.

WISH-TV reports the boy got the gun out of a gun box before fatally shooting his toddler brother in the head at a house. Police have not released the boys' names.

Neighbors tell WTHR the family had several guns and that they saw several being carried out by police after the shooting.
