ICE agent who left gun behind isn't first (left on baby changing table)

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent who left his gun on the diaper-changing station in a Houston airport bathroom is just the latest in a string of federal agents to misplace their service weapon, records show.

An ICE agent left his service weapon in the bathroom of a federal courthouse in San Diego in January 2010 and ended up in counseling, according to ICE disciplinary records obtained by the Houston Chronicle.

Another left a loaded magazine in a Wal-Mart bathroom in June 2010, also resulting in counseling.

Other agents who have reported their service weapons lost or stolen have faced a range of punishments, from no action to suspensions of up to five days, the ICE records show.

ICE is not alone when it comes to misplacing firearms. The FBI's inspector general reported in 2007 that the FBI lost 160 weapons from early 2002 through September 2005, including submachine guns and shotguns.
