Four incidents Monday extend wave of gun violence (Buffalo)

The gun violence that left two dead and three injured in Buffalo over the weekend spilled into Monday, when one man was shot and another was beaten with a firearm in two of four separate gun incidents around the city, according to Buffalo police reports.

The shooting occurred at about 3 p. m. in the vicinity of Hazelwood and Easton avenues, when John T. Whitlock, 42, of Roma Street, was struck by gunfire as he rode his bicycle. The victim told police a male in his late teens or early 20s got out of a car and opened fire on him.

The gunman, armed with a .40- caliber handgun, fired several shots, striking Whitlock in the right knee and right foot. Whitlock fell off of his bike but managed to get to a Langfield Drive apartment before he collapsed, police reported.

Whitlock was taken to Erie County Medical Center. His injuries were described as “non-life-threatening” late Monday. Northeast District detectives were searching for leads.

I'm too modest and old to wear lycra...

However.com....I wear a "last chance" belt just under the belt line of my shorts, and carry a LCP in a fobus holster when riding. Most of my rides are 5-15 miles depending on if the kids are with me or not, so an extra pound doesn't matter.
