A four-year-old boy has died after accidentally shooting himself with a gun he found in a liquor store.

Ash Wimbley, of Cedar Lake, Indiana, was found around 10:15 a.m. Thursday inside of Tubby's Wine and Spirits in Beecher, Illinois. According to the Chicago Tribune, he found a loaded shotgun behind the store counter and shot himself in the head with it unintentionally.

He was rushed to the St. James Hospital and Health Centers in Chicago Heights, Illinois, the Associated Press reports, but was pronounced dead there later that afternoon.

6. Depends on the make/model.

Numerous models of double-barrel "coach guns" and defensive pump-actions are certainly short enough for a larger toddler to accomplish this... but then you pretty much have to hypothesize a loaded, cocked gun with any safety disengaged, plus a badly unsupervised kid in a liquor store.... Many levels of failure here, going by the available info. Possible, but very improbable. At this point I am guessing that "there is more to the story".... which may or may not make the news later.

P.S. Don't rule out the possibility of an illegally shortened shotgun, or even a fully legal AOW one.
