Muslim woman: Driver with gun called me a terrorist
http://www.freep.com/article/20110808/NEWS05/110808038/Muslim-woman-Driver-gun-called-me-terrorist

Ann Arbor police are investigating a Muslim woman's claim that a motorist called her a terrorist and held up a handgun.

Lt. Renee Bush says the 21-year-old woman says the incident occurred around 9 a.m. Sunday. Bush says the woman was at a stop light when another driver pulled up and yelled racial slurs.

Bush says the woman called 911 and provided a license plate number to police. Detectives are investigating.

Oh the irony

3. Very good point
Anyone who might become the victim of Tea Baggery should take an informed decision about guns and carry.

Even if you don't own a gun or think you would ever own a gun, give it a thought. If circumstances change, it can take months, in most states, to get the required training, apply for the license, and have it issued.

The list includes anyone who is not a white, homophobic, racist, Randian.

6. That's it, arm up and start shooting other citizens. We'd be better off w/o damn things in public.

Gun proliferators are just about as bad as the financial jerks who've ruined the economy.

10. Correction: "That's it, arm up and defend against deadly attack." Fixed.
You'll be getting my bill soon.

11. It is always wise to carefully consider all your options ...
The decision on buying a firearm or getting a concealed carry permit should require a lot of thought and careful consideration. Firearms are not for everybody and often even if you are a honest stable person without anger management problems, serious mental issues or addiction to drugs or alcohol, the circumstances of your personal environment or your relationship with a significant other may make owning a firearm a poor idea.

But if you procrastinate on buying a firearm after you have given the idea careful thought and have decided to do so -- you may find you actually have an immediate need to own a firearm for self defense. It would be unfortunate if this happens when someone is kicking your door down.

If you find that you have a good reason to legally carry a concealed firearm, realize that it takes time to go through the class, submit the paperwork and wait for the approval. If the economic situation in this nation leads to turmoil , many people will apply for carry permits and the states could be overwhelmed by the number of the applications. The wait time could increase considerably.

If you are interested in being prepared for possible problems and see that owning a firearm for home defense or defense on the street might be wise, it is also a good idea to get the training on how to safely use and maintain it. You also need to spend time on a shooting range learning to be proficient with your firearm. One again, it is a good idea to get some professional instruction on how to shoot. Shooting looks easy when you watch TV or a movie, but it is far more challenging in real life. You need to become as good as possible because in a real life or death situation, the adrenaline flow in your body will cause your shooting skills to deteriorate considerably.

Now I know you will disagree with most of what I have said, especially anything dealing with carrying a concealed firearm in public. That's fine. Your viewpoint has many good arguments to support it. I suggest you take the time to reply to this post and list your counterarguments. Between both of these posts we may give people a chance to consider both sides. Of course, a better idea would be to start an original post on the subject. If you do, I'll take the time to reply to it. It might produce an interesting and informative thread.

15. Do you need a permit to protect your home where you live? I bet you don't.

Shooting is not that difficult, especially up close. Now getting to the point where you can draw at blinding speed takes some work, but it's mostly wasted effort if you ask me. I used to be into target shooting, and have had more than a few friends who got all excited about carrying guns in public. Fortunately, I grew up.

You might be overdoing the "life and death" stuff too. The stats just don't indicate there is that much of threat, unless you are dealing drugs or something.

4. Based on information at the site...
...with the original article, apparently the plate number the woman provided does not exist in any of the 50 states.

So - I'm calling bullshit on this one.

5. calling bullshit on your post....
http://www.annarbor.com/news/crime/fbi-investigates-report-of-hate-crime-in-ann-arbor/

Ann Arbor police said the the man was driving a newer-model black pickup truck, possibly a Dodge Ram. He was white, 30 years of age, bald and had sunglasses on, Bush said.

Walid said the woman told him the truck had a U.S. Army sticker on it and she had never seen the man before. He said the woman wrote down a possible license plate number, but police ran it and didn't get any results. It wasn't a Michigan plate, Walid said, noting that the woman did not have further details.

7. Sounds fuzzy to me...
She wrote down a non-existent license and then called the cops. Could be an error caused by the excitement of the moment, may have been to provide an excuse in her personal life. At this point it is going nowhere.

One possibility would be hypnosis to try and retrieve a correct plate number...but it could also expose her as a fraud.

9. Sort of depends...
Kids present? Cell phone in use? Minivan or SUV? Those tend to encourage me to get seriously away from those cars. Never seen anyone driving in a full head covering (as in over the face)

12. I recommend one of these....

I looked at one of these this weekend....I like the wood and the price of 350 or so. I think it would strike the perfect ballance between SD shotgun and "classic" wood look of a double barrel. I want one...that means I normally buy one. :)
