(Reuters) - An Anchorage high school student was arrested on Thursday after he was found carrying a loaded gun on a school bus, authorities said.

The 19-year-old had a .22 caliber handgun with him as he rode a bus from a local high school to a nearby vocational-education center, Anchorage School District officials said.

"As the student was getting off of the bus, the driver noticed the student had a weapon," said Heidi Embley, the district's spokeswoman, adding that police were called and the student was turned over to their custody.

DeKalb Student Charged with Terroristic Threats

A seventh grader who brought a loaded gun to Salem Middle School in Lithonia Thursday morning is in the Regional Detention Center, charged with terroristic threats, possession of a weapon on school grounds, and pointing a weapon, a DeKalb County School System spokesman said.

The 14-year-old “evidently started waving the gun in front of two other students” shortly before school started, said spokesman Rodney Jenkins. The students immediately went to the school office and informed the principal what they saw, he said.

The principal, Donald Mason, alerted the staff about the incident. When the student was found and questioned, he first denied having the gun before acknowledging that he did bring it to school, Jenkins said. The weapon was found on the stage in the cafeteria, where Jenkins said the student had hidden it. The student was taken into police custody.

Police: Billy Samples’ Gun Permit Was Revoked

http://www.statejournal.com/story.cfm?func=viewstory&storyid=105660

The St. Albans Police Department announced Thursday that Billy Samples, 34, the man arrested Wednesday night at Hayes Middle School for allegedly having a gun on school property, did not have a legal permit for that weapon.

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office revoked Samples’ permit in June 2010 after a domestic battery arrest, according to the St. Albans Police Department. Samples should have given his gun permit to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, but he never did, police said.

ORIGINAL STORY 9:36 p.m., Aug. 17, 2011

A man said his car had been keyed while at a football practice by another man, identified as Samples.

The complainant told police that when Samples walked away, he lifted his shirt and a handgun could be seen. The complainant then said the suspect walked behind the school to the football field where the practice was under way.

4. Wow, way to be... really, vilely nasty.
There are plenty of legit reasons you could point to, and lots of reasons to refrain from belittling the offspring of politicians.

Classy... not.

3. There were lots of guns in my highschool.
One year those off duty cops managed to kill more students than the gangs did.

1. Cops ran over an unarmed student with their car crushing his skull in the middle of the football field.
2. Cops broke an unarmed student's neck when he failed to comply and they wrestled him to the ground. Student died.
3. Cops shot a deaf student because they thought he was armed. It was the lock for his bicycle he failed to drop it when they told him to.
4. Cops killed a student who was a gang member when he pulled a gun on another student.(Legit in my book)

There were 3 gang killings that same year.

Have I mentioned that I hated my high school?

5. The only thing on topic here is that a 19-year old
is legal to own a pistol. What the law is in Alaska regarding such at school can be found here: http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/alaska.pdf

No mention in the article of if the man had permission, or if the gun was carried concealed or openly, or locked in a case or anything, or what his intent was.

Until furthar info comes out, Meh. Meh, I say....
