Edited on Mon Sep-12-11 01:37 AM by The Northerner
PALMETTO -- Gunmen shot two people to death and wounded 22 others in one of the worst shooting cases in Manatee County history on early Saturday morning.

At least two shooters opened fire at about 12:30 a.m. on a crowd standing in front of Club Elite, 704 10th St. W.

Trayon Goff, 25, of Palmetto, fell dead outside the club’s front door.

Gwenette Matthews, 38, of Bradenton, was found dead inside the club, according to the Palmetto Police Department.

6. Florida - Bradenton is on the west coast, south of Tampa
Sounds like (from the article's mention that the WOTS is "retaliation" shooting) it may have been gang or drug related.

My heart goes out to the victims and their families. Very sad.

5. They weren't really shot. They're just doing this to make the gun owners look bad.
:sarcasm:

8. Your Point Is Well Taken
In fact, if we had more open carry, the whole thing probably would have never even happened. The sight of guns in our society is the number one deterrent to violence.:sarcasm:

7. Right Up The Road From Where I Live... Last Friday The News Was All
about the rise of guns and shooting here in the state of Florida. I hear about it all the time, but THIS was too close for comfort!

This area isn't really known for all that much violence so it appears that things seem to be growing by leaps and bounds. This area is known as the "cultural center of the South West" with many celebrities and people of wealth having 2nd homes here.

I AM not of that crowd, just a worker bee in the area. I'm one who has ALWAYS been against guns, but it's a losing battle. This country is simply off the rails when it comes to WARS & GUNS! We will rue the day, and I fear this country will lose more and more respect as time goes by.

We are well on our way! Not the America I grew up in! So sad, and reprehensible!
