He fires a shot through the door, dude continues to break in and strikes him with a stick. Elderly man finishes the job with a second shot.

1. Some people advocate that the elderly or handicapped/disabled should have no right to own guns.
I wonder what they would have a senior citizen do in a situation like this... if they got their wish in disarming some of society's most vulnerable people.

2. I have never heard of anyone wanting to keep the elderly from owning firearms.

7. You mean this?

5. anyone who has become elderly and incapacitated or otherwise physically incapacitated.

Not totally unreasonable but I can see the slippery slope argument being applied here. I would expect that at the very least, that the nature and severity of the incapacitation would have to be considered.

9. 5. anyone who has become elderly or otherwise physically incapacitated...the version he wants
vs the version he was forced into from catching flack here....

I meant all elderly, and it's well known his desire to disarm anyone he sees unfit to own guns. He can flip and flop and rewrite history all he wants, but deep in his heart we know the truth.

6. A poster here, on his blog and on DailyKos stated that being elderly
should disqualify one from gun ownership. He has since tried to hedge that a bit, but nobody is letting him get away with it.

12. I don't think this is needed for every reply or post but some folks need visuals.

10. Interesting quotes from the article.
"Hofecker said the homeowner owns some type of business and

investigators believe the intruder was trying to rob him of money,

According to what the homeowner told investigator, sometime around

4:30 a.m. Sunday, Warthen heard someone trying to break through the

door of his 2800 County Road 724 home. Warthen said he fired a warning

shot through the door but the intruder continued to break in.

Once inside, the intruder began beating the homeowner with a stick,

and the victim was able to fire at least one shot, striking the

Warthen.

There are those in this forum who have said that when you are being robbed, you should just give the robber what they want.

11. Never attack an old man
If he is too old to fight you, he will just shoot you.

Elderly are the #1 target of muggers and home invaders.

More and More of us are resolved to not be easy targets.
