ATF sez it's illegal to sell guns to medical marijuana users.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44712648/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/#.ToR9QGEW6eE

HELENA, Mont. — Firearms dealers in states that allow medical marijuana can't sell guns or ammunition to registered users of the drug, a policy that marijuana and gun-rights groups say denies Second Amendment rights to individuals who are following state law.

Federal law already makes it illegal for someone to possess a gun if he or she is "an unlawful user of, or addicted to" marijuana or other controlled substances.

2. The ATF can kiss San Diego's ass too
We recently had an incident in which a home-invasion robber was shot dead. He had demanded marijuana, which the residents were growing legally for medical use (i.e. with a permit.)

The DA has indicated that they won't be charged with any crime. The California Penal Code has a clear and reasonable castle doctrine that protects people who use deadly force in self-defense.

3. Then it should be illegal for people who drink legal or illegal alcohol to own guns.

6. Technically, they could if the alcohol is not "controlled"...
An ironic term since prohibition is usually characterized by the slimmest veneer of "control." What bugs me is the conflation of "addiction" with unlawful use. I wonder: What is the history behind this portion of 4473? Is it a holdover artifact of Reefer Madness days, or a more recent inclusion by multiple-prohibition disorder sufferers? Diane Feinstein is a prime example of one so afflicted.

4. Then anyone receiving any controlled prescription drug should also be barred from owning guns.
Logic Fail.

5. This should be good! "Conservative" 2A defenders elsewhere will take note...
One prohibition will always breed another.

For a long time, 2A folks have let slide that crap on Form 4473 which speaks of using marijuana to disqualify the otherwise legal purchase of a firearm. It comes complete with penalties if you lie about it; again, including disqualification. It's time for this shite to be eliminated from 4473.

Fellow 2A defenders will note that the only controlled substance to be mentioned by name IS "marijuana," the core drug in the grandest failed social engineering program promulgated by the government since the 18th Amendment. And alcohol is NOT mentioned.

As ileus implies, those favoring gun prohibition will often gladly glom onto another prohibition to meet their aims.

10. It works exactly as intended
But not as advertised . Understandably , being lied to on such a grand scale rubs a lot of folks the way . And after being allowed to do so without any consequences , for so long , everybody is starting to figure it doesn't matter anyway . And up to a point that is true .

The fact that Anderson Cooper was so..... surprised to hear Babeu's revelations and air them publicly indicates to me that we are approaching that point .

13. Been a while since I've seen a 4473
but I believe the question is :Are you addicted to or illegal user of any depressant, stimulant or other substance?

Like your coffee? Get edgy when you don't have it? Guess what? You're addicted to a stimulant. Have a six pack in the evening, every evening? You too, drunky-alcohol is a depressant.

17.  The trouble is that the ATFE only looks at "unlawful" as a Federal description.
According to federal Law it is "lawful" to sell, supply, or give a firearm to a user of illegal drugs. Again illegal as in Federal Law. Whether it is legal under State Law matters not to them. Their focus is purely on the federal side. State Laws mean nothing to them.

if i were a medical marijuana patient.

LEGALIZE IT ALREADY DAMN. The whole marijuana situation is yet another example of where Obama just will not stand up for the rights of the people. I do not understand how anyone who considers him or her self progressive can support a guy who thinks marijuana is on the same level as heroin. I know there are no other options on the Dem side, but everything about Obama just screams that he does not care about marijuana advocates - medical or otherwise - at all.

18. At this point, I can only surmise that his only goal is to be reelected....
And I think he'll manage it simply due to the incompetent fucks the opposition is putting up for punching bags.

God help us if they pick someone with any sense.
