Sean Hannity currently doing a one-hour F&F report.
He's getting the broad strokes generally correct, but skipped over some details to make it look like a story developed by Fox, when in fact both Fox and CBS got it from well known independent sources.

Really wish some other media outlets would look into this....

2. you realize of course,
that if the scandal involved the DEA, for example, Hannity would not be touching it and Rachel would be all over it. No, I am not being sarcastic.

4. ideological filter
Edited on Sun Oct-09-11 10:15 PM by gejohnston

very simple, DEA commits crimes, violates civil rights etc. Left gets rightfully pissed off. The right figures "just a bunch of potheads, they deserve what happens to them even if their rights are violated."

ATF commits crimes, violates civil rights etc. Right gets rightfully pissed off. The left figures "just a bunch of just a bunch of blood thirsty yahoos with small penises, they deserve what happens to them even if their rights are violated."
Call me cynical, but that has been my honest observation.

Edit to add: hypocrisy and bigotry are non-partisan, only different "other". Of the two, the left is just not as bad. The left is better in economic and environmental issues.

6. That SOB bigot was on radio in Atlanta. He and Boortz fought for top racist and right winger.

Anyone who would trust Hannity on any issue is suspect at best.

This whole thing is primarily right wingers trying to get to Obama using the same folks who supported R Weaver, David Koresh and others. Plus, they love bashing the ATF because they help enforce gun laws that are way too lenient anyway. Some DUers seem to be piling on as well.

Then again, most gunners are attracted to strange and unworthy people.

and credible information from.

11. But other media outlets know it's not a big deal -- A well intentioned sting gone wrong, maybe.

FOX bashes ATF because it reflects on Obama -- otherwise they would not care either.

But gunners here are going to bash ATF no matter what they do.

That's the point that gunners don't get, nor do they care. They want free flow of guns and will use any political means to get it, even if it reflects unfairly on a Democratic President.

If gunners really cared about guns flowing to folks who should not have them, they'd quit buying so many and would support tougher restrictions.

12. The most remarkable difference between the BATFE and myself....
is that NONE OF MY GUNS HAS BEEN PURPOSEFULLY GIVEN TO CRIMINALS.

Did you get the distinction there?

So, I am going to continue to buy guns whenever I want to, and do my best to see the BATFE shut down entirely.

14. Stings involve busting the bad guys with the goods, not selling them the stuff and letting them go
And the latter is precisely what Fast And Furious did. You've called it a sting more than once, but it was not a sting.

Your constant misrepresentation of F&F as a sting is like repeatedly calling a Volkswagen Beetle a Porsche 911- No matter how often and how loudly you say it, it's still gonna be an econobox with a flower vase, not a sports car.

17. "A well intentioned sting gone wrong, maybe."
Dosen't matter if it went wrong, maybe. It DID go wrong and no one in the administration is taking ownership for it, they are denying and trying to pass the blame and hide it.

THAT'S THE PROBLEM

That's the point that ANTI-gunners don't get, nor do they care. They want TO STOP ANY flow of guns and will use any political means to get it, even if it reflects unfairly on a Democratic President.

If ANTI-gunners really cared about CRIME AND GUN VIOLENCE they'd quit TRYING TO KEEP GUNS OUT OF THE HANDS OF LEGAL GUN OWNERS support tougher ENFORCEMENT OF THE LAWS ALREADY ON THE BOOKS.

FIXED IT FOR YOU!!!

9. evidence of my earlier post
Anyone who would trust Hannity on any issue is suspect at best.

Hannity is a late comer after CBS, McClatchy, and others already did the real work. All he is going to do is repeat what we already know.

This whole thing is primarily right wingers trying to get to Obama using the same folks who supported R Weaver, David Koresh and others.

Could be why Issa is started. But like I said, he would not if it were Obama's DEA, just like the Dems would not even if it were Bush's ATF. Congress should do their job of oversight regardless of who runs the executive. But you are correct that the Republicans do have a history of frivolous investigations, but this does not look like White Water.

they love bashing the ATF because they help enforce gun laws that are way too lenient anyway. Some DUers seem to be piling on as well.

It they enforced them properly instead of violating them (along with Mexican laws) we would not be bashing them. Perfect example of my earlier post.

Some DUers seem to be piling on as well.

We would be doing the same with Bush's DEA, so what's your point? I just hope it turns out to be a Holder and Bush thing and keeps Obama in the clear.

13. That's why they *don't* comment on the CBS, LA Times, and McClatchy F&F stories.
To acknowledge non-RW sources would ruin the genetic fallacy for them, and enables them to keep telling themselves "It's just a right-wing plot to get President Obama and that nice Mr. Holder."
