"The new acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced a major shake-up of his agency Wednesday and urged Washington insiders to 'calm down' about the latest revelations surrounding a controversial ATF gun operation.

"B. Todd Jones said calm is needed as he begins rebuilding the beleaguered agency, including shuffling top personnel. He made his comments as his boss, Attorney General Eric J. Holder Jr., came under fire this week from Republican lawmakers, with one calling for a special counsel to investigate Holder’s role in the Fast and Furious gun-trafficking operation."

5. I agree with Calm Down. This is nothing but BS from obsessed gunners and haters of gun laws and ATF.

It's a failed sting that those obsessed with possessing guns are using to bash the Obama Admin because they still fear that he'll take their guns. Sure some heads should roll for the failed sting, but the attention this is getting is mostly from a bunch of right wing gun owners pissed because of Randy Weaver, David Koresh, DC and Chicago still restrict guns, the cost of so-called assault weapons is too high to buy more than three or four, and more gun crap.

Get a life and concentrate on government SNAFUs that really make a difference to the masses, not this those who love guns more than life.

23. I wish in all the discussions about prohibition, esp. after Ken Burns'...

latest release, "Prohibition," there was a deeper look into what motivates prohibitionist behavior. Is it the instant issue (gin, ganja, guns, gays), or the need to "act out" the behaviors attendant to prohibition? I think it is the latter, perhaps based on a misplaced since of nostalgia or paradise-lost, and causes like-minded people to strike out at others who are seen as the killers of their paradise, with the desire to punish and hurt them. This is a psychological area at least, and perhaps best summed up with this:

I have come to the conclusion that the object, status or behavior follows the hated other, that these things are seen as attached to the culture of the hated other.

if Randy Weaver was growing pot, you would be up in arms because the police open fired (without justification) including murdering his wife while holding a baby. Since he was wanted for taking a hacksaw to a shotgun barrel, which was a clear case of entrapment, his family deserved being murdered. You once again prove this point.

All injustice is wrong regardless if the person shares your politics or anything else. Weaver was acquitted of all charges and the gov. had to cough up money.

Check out the rules of engagement. Rule one, means shoot on sight without announcing or offering chance to surrender.

1. If any adult male is observed with a weapon prior to the announcement, deadly force can and should be employed, if the shot can be taken without endangering any children.
2. If any adult in the compound is observed with a weapon after the surrender announcement is made, and is not attempting to surrender, deadly force can and should be employed to neutralize the individual.
3. If compromised by any animal, particularly the dogs, that animal should be eliminated.
4. Any subjects other than Randall Weaver, Vicki Weaver, Kevin Harris, presenting threats of death or grievous bodily harm, the FBI rules of deadly force are in effect. Deadly force can be utilized to prevent the death or grievous bodily injury to oneself or that of another.
