http://www.examiner.com/drug-cartel-in-national/drug-trafficker-s-claims-on-operation-gunwalker-gain-some-credibilityexaminer.com's Dave Gibson, drug cartel Examiner:
"The same drug trafficker, Vicente Zambada Niebla, who now claims the U.S. government entered into a deal with the Sinaloa drug cartel to allow tons of drugs into the country over the last five years, has also alleged that thousands were murdered in Mexico as a result of the now, infamous ATF scheme.
"Though the U.S. government has denied his claims, it now appears that they may have some merit."
Gibson claims that Niebla's claim is bolstered by discovery of a recent cache of weapons found in the residence of drug Torres Marrufo in Ciudad Juarez. The cache included "40 assault weapons," a grenade launchers, and an "anti-aircraft gun." At the time of the seizure earlier this year, the seizure was hailed by the Chihuahua state Governor Duarte as the biggest load of weapons seized in Juarez. But according to Gibson:
"Gov. Duarte was not yet aware that the ATF was responsible for sending most of the weapons to the cartel operative.
Though Torres Marrufo has been indicted in the United States, he remains at-large at this time."
Niebla, according to Gibson, is seeking papers from the U.S. government which will prove a guns-for-drugs swap, including an okay for his participation.
