NRA Board Member and CCW Holder Arrested
Edited on Mon Oct-17-11 01:56 AM by mikeb302000
I was only kidding. http://www.kentucky.com/2011/10/15/1921006/1-charged-in-connection-with-lexington.html">Here's the real story.

Lexington police on Friday charged Davric Cortez Givens, 21, of Lexington with assault and possession of marijuana, accusing him of firing a handgun at a car where a man was shot in the head Thursday. The shooting was the latest in a string of more than a dozen shooting incidents in just over a week.

According to his Facebook page, Givens is the son of Cpl. Rick Givens, who works for the city's Division of Community Corrections. Davric Givens was being held at the jail Friday.

Well this fine city in Kentucky is just ablaze with gun activity. One fun fact is young Mr. Givens might have his dad as a prison guard.

What do you think? Do you think drive-by shootings and shooting at passing cars would happen just as often if gun availability was less than what it is?

Please leave a comment.

1. "I was only kidding."
"I was only lying" Fixed it for you.

I will congratulate you on not adding any blind links to your blog to this post though.

Will Mr Givens have his dad as a prison guard, very possible. Criminals tend to do criminal things and last I saw, assault and possesion of mj was against the law.

Would drive-by shootings and shooting at passing cars happen just as often if gun availability were less?

Yeah, probably.

2. You should take that lie down and start over
Bait and Switch sucks in all applications.
FYI
Nobody is just shooting at passing cars in this town. All these incidents are caused by drug selling criminals. Not weed but pills.
If you follow this forum you might remember that this flurry of shots over a period of weeks started on my street.
I posted then that it caused by drug selling criminals.

Happens all the time in places that restrict gun ownership.

(It really doesn't...but why let facts get in the way of a good story.)

...problem, a problem with honesty, or both.

Here is what the first respondent actually said:

Would drive-by shootings and shooting at passing cars happen just as often if gun availability were less?

Yeah, probably.

In other words, reducing gun availability for the general population likely wouldn't reduce criminals using guns.

So, what he really said it the incredible, lower gun availability WOULD NOT lessen the incidents of shootings.

The gun-rights folks have made disappointing progress during the past few years. Their future looks bleak considering that after the big Supreme Court victories and during an administration that didn't oppose them, they could hardly put together any major successes.

Soon it will be our turn.

instead of what in fact is.

And you do know what will happen IF even the illusion of some loss of rights looks to occur...HUGE stock-piling of firearms by those feeling their rights will be eroded. Millions and millions more sold then normal, especially the very arms likely to be targeted for control.

Happens EVERY time. Doesn't anyone learn from the mistakes of trying to push a half-assed control agenda??

While everyone else is spending their cash on guns 'just in case', you might as well just send buckets of your money right to the NRA and the gun manufacturers. In fact - do it now, why wait?..you 'we must control the people' types are some of their best allies!

Time to get your head out of the ass of your one trick pony and actually & intelligently pay attention...the liberal-led revolution has begun, and yet there are still those who insist on giving the corporate-controlled state more control over the people. Why??

I wish to continue working on opening up NICS for public use to eliminate private transfers to ineligible recipients, as well as total registration with iron clad grandfathering, so we don't have a repeat of the California confiscation, AND we can track weapons that move from lawful hands, to the grey or black markets.

Try again.

a motivation. Drugs appear to be the motivating factor in Lexington. People need to be held accountable for their actions. There needs to be a thought process. People need to be educated and well informed and they need to have hope that they can have a better life.

No, it is too easy to blame the tool. The tool is only as good as the human using it.

This is my opinion. I know that you and I disagree on the basic philosophy.

To me, your idea is basically the same as giving the corporations individual (human) status. You want to apply that same logic to guns.
Individual rights are human responsibilities.

19. Tuesday, you have to stop repeating the same old
nonsense. "The gun is a tool" is an overused platitude that doesn't stand up to inspection.

Nobody is blaming the tool. Only you guys accuse us of doing that. I blame the easy access to that particular "tool." And I blame you and your friends for your part in making that possible.

So, please stop with the silly attempts at diverting the discussion.

Plus, we're not talking about addressing the gun availability problem and NOT addressing the crime problem. That's your other favorite mischaracterization.
