Twin Kick-Off, Unloaded Long Gun Open Carry Events To Be Held In California
"Fremont, CA - October 22, 2011 - In response to the governor’s recent signing of AB 144, a bill to ban the Open Carry of handguns, the Responsible Citizens of California (RCC) is organizing twin meet-up events from Noon-1PM on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the corner of Hesperian Blvd. & Bayfair Drive in San Leandro and the corner of Felspar and Ocean Front Walk on Pacific Beach in San Diego."

With any luck they will see a good turnout. Hopefully, local law enforcement, won't do anything stupid, and arrest these folks
for obeying the law.

1. Didn't they hold one of these events out there not so long ago?
Edited on Tue Oct-18-11 08:43 PM by TheCowsCameHome
Everyone walked around with unloaded guns and ate ice cream and hot dogs or some such thing.

I forget the details.

But that has little to do with your comment "idiots on parade".
or much of anything else.

Here let me show you:

All rifles are guns, not all guns are rifles.

Stated another way, being a rifle is a sufficient, but not necessary condition to being a gun.

Easy!

Edit: This is a snarky post intended to suggest that you are an agent provocateur.

21. So what if you do?
Just because you shoot does not mean you have a clue about the legal aspect.

10. Not quite
Those who want to carry guns in public don't even come close.

It is less about carrying specifically, it is more about the gun culture/rural culture in general. Maybe they got the idea from gay pride parades back in the day.

can be like that some times. I'm sure millions of men felt the same way toward those uppity women who just wanted to vote too.

Using recent history as a guide, gun rights are on the upswing, in a dacade or two maybe us folks who want to strap on a gun or two
before venturing out in public, will be able to do so without having to fear being arrested for it. Throughout the ENTIRE country.

24. Why is it idiocy? Please explain, if you can...
California, with new legislation prohibiting open-carry of even unloaded handguns, now allows its citizens only the right to carry unloaded long guns (shotguns and rifles) when outside their residence. Due to previous post-Black Panther legislation, California already makes it virtually impossible to carry concealed (except for the virulent anti-gun Diane Feinstein, who was issued a carry permit several years ago). In short, California makes it unlawful to both bear arms concealed or bear them openly.

California has taken unconstitutional action to further control/ban guns. If you have another more "intelligent" way by which the RKBA can be restored in California, please outline your proposal.

23. The event included only handguns. The new legislation prohits OC of handguns...
hence, you have not seen "these events" where long guns (not covered by the legislation) are carried openly and unloaded.

I saw an event in Michigan where folks who were OC barbecued hot dogs. Can't say about ice cream.

30. A lot of very nice Swedish Mausers were imported in the early 1980s
Excellent condition, matching part numbers, etc. The one pictured isn't mine, but it is typical of the condition of those imports.

BTW, I paid just $89 for my first Swedish Mauser. I bought it at a Woolworth department store.
