Why not ban everything but...
Edited on Thu Oct-20-11 01:07 PM by ileus
single shot 20ga shotguns/pistols???

Think about it.

20ga will work to defend your home ------------ check
20ga will work to harvest small game ------------ check
20ga w/slugs will work for large game ----------- check
20ga could be used to arm a milita ---------- check

Since the single shot 20ga is the only allowed firearm we could allow short barreled shotguns with a pistol grip for conceal carry.

20ga 2.5" barreled pistol for concealed carry --------- check

No killer clips, no mean looking gun militant accessories would be allowed. Almost back to the flintlock days that opponents of semi-autos desire most.

So there you have it....a little something for everyone. :)

1. After watching "The Walking Dead," I'd rather not ban anything.
Never know when you're going to need your ammo and guns. :)

7. I think you could get a small framed 20ga pistol.
you could probably get it down to 5" barreled 1911 size. You don't want to be too rude of a toter after all...

11. 1. How many rounds is that
2. How much power is that?

Not that I carry but for someone like me I'd be so scared I'd need more than 1 shot and I'm so small a big gun would beat me up before I shot anything.

21. Hell, make it part of your purse, like a "punt gun" was often part of a boat.
No problem! Just squeeze like a bellows with the all-new Omni-direction trigger and hammer-less firing pin! BOOM! That name-brand purse may lose its logo, but think of the shot spread: compacts, keys, lipsticks, odd-job credit cards; hell, forget about shot!

5. I dunno if you have ever fired a shot pistol, but I have.
Back in the early 60's I got my hands on a 28-ga. shot pistol built, I was told, on an old flare pistol frame. It had a big old hammer and a grip at about the angle (but not the shape) of the grip on an old Beasley Colt revolver.

Anyway, touching that thing off was like holding a howitzer in your hand. It was light, so there was plenty of recoil. I shot it twice before selling it to some other maniac. It drew blood both times, when the hammer slammed back into the web between my thumb and index finger.

31. I've seen them & thought about ny experience with the 28 ga.
I figure that little derringer must have a shot cone of about 45º & the recoil would embed the pistol in your forehead or something.

9. I'd love a 20 gauge howdah pistol for hiking.
It'd make a superb anti-snake and emergency survival gun while still being easy to carry. The rest of your proposal, not so much.

17. You're against freedom, individuals and rights?
This may come as a shock to you but when I declare I have a right to my body I'm not exerting it so I can have an abortion to save the life of the government, state or community.

It's because it's MY body.

Ditto my freedom of conscience; my political rights; my right to religion, particularly the absence thereof; my right to free speech.

Might I be limited to but one , Sir ?

It was to my thinking , if I may so bold as to attempt at doing so , that I'd need at least 5 or 6 of these dainty things dangling from 'round my neck on scraps of silk .

28. Interesting idea ...
Let's see just how much stopping power a 20 gauge shotgun has...

http://theboxotruth.com/docs/bot22.htm

OK loaded with the right ammo it could do the job of stopping an attacker effectively.

But I would like to have more rounds available. How about a 20 gauge coach gun?

note the pictures shows 12 gauge shotguns

Such a weapon holds only two rounds and can be reloaded rapidly.

One other complaint, How do I conceal a very short shotgun in the Florida heat without it being obvious that I am carrying? Even the Taurus Public Defender in .45/.410 (2.5" chamber) has a length of 9" and weighs 28.2 oz.

Compare that to my carry revolver a S&W Model 642 .38 special. My little snubbie weighs 15 oz. and is only 7" long. I can drop this revolver and its holster into my pants pocket and it is totally concealed.
