Wisconsin Capitol to allow guns
Walker policy would allow weapons on Assembly floor
By Patrick Marley and Jason Stein of the Journal Sentinel
Oct. 26, 2011 5:34 p.m.

Madison - The public will be able to carry guns into most parts of the state Capitol, under a policy being developed by Gov. Scott Walker.

Lawmakers are developing their own policies that would allow individual lawmakers to decide whether to allow guns into their offices.

Under rules planned for one chamber, guns would be allowed on the Assembly floor and in the Assembly viewing galleries, said sources who have been briefed on the plans. That would mean the public could bring guns into the viewing galleries but would still have to adhere to other existing rules, including one that bars the use of still cameras and video cameras.

13. Nope.
That would be called brandishing. If they were stupid enough to actually draw it, it would be "assault with a deadly weapon" and they'd likely get shot.

11. no, and I doubt they are thrilled at the
idea of the unwashed masses being armed. There is a German manufacture Heckler & Koch(more commonly knows as simply HK), but no relation that I know of.

14. Chances are against their being related
"Koch" is German for "Cook" which--predictably--makes it a very common surname.

People in Wisconsin, by nature, must be more stupid and dangerous than people in other states. Look at all the Ole and Lena stories.

Kentucky and Texas both allow guns in their State capitols, and have for years, without problems. Gov. OK With Guns In Capitol Building

All that snow and all those unemployed margarine smugglers who were put out of business when the law was repealed in 1967 are a recipe for carnage. I bet you have fun scaring little kids with Ed Gein stories too.

9. yup...Waukesha COunty Sheriff bought a armored car
And the day they introduced it they used it to block a armed drunk sitting in his car at a PDQ.

Lambeau Field introduced metal detectors and searches at Packer games...

The crazy wing nuts can connect the big fucking huge dots...crazies carry law, means more security and militarization of police...

12. wake me up when
something unprecedented happens. They get passed, they get repealed. One state says "hey let's do what that state is doing, doesn't seem to be a problem", people clutch their pearls screeching about blood in the streets. :boring:

16. Doesn't matter if they are or not
What a private company chooses to do on its property bears no relationship to what the state may do on public property.

I don't work in a lumberyard, but at my office, I can carry a concealed weapon and leave it in my vehicle without any fear of running afoul of company policy. It is state law. Bringing it into the building? Not so much. That would get me fired. It would not leave me facing any criminal charges though - just looking for a job.

A public building is just that - public. I have just as much right to be there as the next guy and my rights do not stop at the door. The sole exception to that is courtrooms simply because within that room the judge decides what is and is not acceptable - and quite frankly, I can see the legitimate reason to not have firearms in there. Criminals and all that...

Why should I have to put aside my rights when I come to visit the state capitol building though? What the legislators are doing in there already can cause far more harm than I ever could...

17. Wisconsin DOA releases rules for concealed carry in state buildings
WisPolitics: DOA releases rules for concealed carry in state buildings
10/28/2011
-- By Jason Smathers WisPolitics.com

The Department of Administration said Friday that concealed carry will be allowed in most state buildings, with the exception of those outlined under current law as well as areas like probation offices, state-run laboratories and buildings serving the mentally ill.

DOA Secretary Mike Huebsch said concealed carry would be allowed in the Capitol, except in the courtroom of the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the State Capitol Police station.

“State law ensures that citizens with licenses are able to carry concealed weapons and that law extends to state facilities,” Secretary Huebsch said. “Wisconsin is the forty-ninth state to put a concealed carry law into place. Individuals with licenses are law-abiding citizens and we must respect their right to keep and bear arms under the U.S. and Wisconsin Constitutions.”

In a conference call, DOA Deputy Secretary Chris Schoenherr, said they would release a list of applicable facilities later. However, examples of facilities off-limits included portions of the Department of Corrections and State Public Defenders Office, Department of Health Services offices handling those of a "diminished mental capacity," and labs for DATCP and the DNR.

No Guns in Wisconsin State Supreme Kangaroo Court because they probably fear that Judge Prosser anger might get the best of him!
