2. The next election cycle will make the difference
Even some of the hard core Chicago reps are changing their tune on concealed carry. With Daley not only gone, but being exposed for the financial fraud he was, almost on a daily basis, his "rules" are fading fast.

Here's a clip of Cliff Kelley, former alderman and a major voice on WVON in the Chicago African American community at a recent meeting on the South Side. This is a sharp 180 from the position Cliff used to have.

http://www.starplanettv.com/cliff%20kelley.html

When Daley was running things you would have never heard anything like this from Chicago reps.

All we need are 6 more votes for both CCW and pre-emption in Illinois.

I'm hoping more Dems change their vote, or we're going to lose even more seats, including the Governor's office next time around. Between the 67% tax hike, property taxes going up 30%, closing police and fire stations in Cook County and the shift in opinions on CCW there's a lot of unrest with the status quo.

40. Guns are HIGHLY regulated
Even in very gun-friendly states. For example, in South Carolina you can't openly carry a firearm at all (as a private citizen), and you can only carry concealed if you have a permit, and getting one usually takes about 4 months. Want a machine gun? It will cost AT LEAST $6,000 and getting your paperwork approved will take AT LEAST 4 months, unless you do a trust, S-Corp, or LLC, and then it will take AT LEAST a month.

Want to import something? Good luck with that! You better have deep pockets and a whole lot of patience.

7. Wrong again, as usual
Keep writing to your rep and state senator.

We turn out over 10,000 people in Springfield for three years in a row to support CCW and your side can't even fill two frickin buses, but somehow you're the majority?

It will do about as much good as your whining about the MacDonald case did.

He lost a bunch last election cycle, how many more can he afford to lose before he wakes up and isn't "Speaker of Jack Shit" anymore?

If you don't think issues like this, with 1.5 million Illinois gun owners, can impact elections, check out Wisconsin.

18. Yeah, that's why we're only 6 votes away from it.
It didn't work yet ... is what you meant to say.

Just like Wisconsin took three tries. With 49 states, only 6 votes to change and a pending election we have major momentum. People like you have tried to stop CCW in every state it has come up in. And in every case they failed dismally and it was voted in with a bipartisan vote.

You have no real support, you have no organization and you have no lobbyists, besides two washed up failures from the Brady bunch that have lost every court case they have touched for a decade.

You're going to have to move to Canada to feel safe by next year. You'll like it, there.

25. Yes I do for the last 60+ years along with most of my extended family too.
When I lived in Chicago I was active in my precinct and lived across the street from my aldercritter. Daughter and SIL both work for the City - fire and teacher - both union.

It's not just the GOP supporting this, you can ask that far right wing nut Cliff Kelley and others on WVON why they're supporting it now too.

But you'll probably continue to pretend it's some handful of far right wingers that want CCW, just like Missouri, Iowa, MInnesota, Michigan and Kansas did before they lost.

35. guns are problem solvers for the right wing
That's how they get stupid selfish people to vote for them. The same ones who vote for politicians who want to outlaw abortion, ban gay marriage, etc. etc.

The real goal is to elect right-wing governments.

As I'm sure you're aware. ;)

39. those ones are easy to explain
We're all right, Jack, and fuck the rest of you.

As we have seen, Vermont is a net exporter of crime guns. Their laws work just dandy, I suppose ... for them.

In terms of gun crime, rather than laws, I suspect you might agree that the long gun / handgun balance in Vermont is probably a little different from in the rest of the country. As are many other things. It's just such a little piece of paradise that it could probably do away with criminal laws altogether, eh?

But really, Vermont? Wasn't Rhode Island available?

We're working on it (MA).

It's just going to take time, patience, dedication, perseverance and money... and a 2nd amendment friendly SCOTUS to get us there.

Myself, I have the time, patience, dedication and perseverance to see this thing through.

Hopefully... it will happen in my life time.

37. MA will get there sooner if some police chief obliges a plaintiff w/ a flat denial
There are a couple that I know of that will not even issue pistol permits for home and range use, much less concealed carry.

That in itself is unconstitutional on the face of it ( see McDonald v. Chicago), and the first court challenge awaits the
proper plaintiff...

Then a yellow stater can get an out-of-state permit and carry legally in his home state.

41. Well, here's the problem
12.8 million people live in a state where their rights are infringed to the point of danger.

But the 8 states that are may-issue are also heavily infringed. That is 81,055,935 people on top of the 12,830,632 in Illinois.

The total is 93,886,567, or 30.4% of the country. Very sad it's so high.
