Police disarm man with fake gun during filming
Several San Francisco police officers responding to a 911 call about an armed robbery, ran into the Alpha Market on Cole Street this week with guns drawn.

"Drop the gun!" an officer ordered, aiming his weapon at a man in a ski mask brandishing a pistol.

Instead of dropping the gun, the man in the mask turned to the officers and said, "It's a movie!"

(...)

Perhaps most stunned of all was the Japanese film crew across the street. With the simulated robbery at the Alpha Market, they thought they had a pretty good new episode of "World's Most Interesting Footage."

1. A true actor would have dropped the "gun" and let them film his arrest.
That would probably go down in film history as the most amazing example of improvising a film scene since Indiana Jones.

5. Reinforce that!!!
If you are standing there while some adrenalin charged cop is pointing a loaded gun at you, you absolutely, positively do not want to do anything that might scare him into shooting you!

You best try your damnedest to diligently and completely comply with his instructions in the most nonthreatening way possible.

6. I heard that the reverse happened on "Homicide: Life on the Street"
The crew was filming in an alleyway and a fleeing criminal raced around the corner and stumbled right into the actors examining a "crime scene". They held him there (I think they drew their fake guns) until the real cops showed up a few seconds later.
