5. I live in Florida and I know plenty of "rednecks" ...

In fact I have often been called one. Most are kind, gentle people who are very helpful to others around them. It is wise not to attack one as they do seem to harbor the ability to fight. They often own guns and hunt deer and wild hog in my area of Florida. Some are very religious, some are not. Some drink, some don't. Overall they are good people.

My daughter is married to a real Florida cracker. He was born and raised in Florida and for a while in his youth he rode a horse and herded cattle in palmetto brush using a whip.

The term "cracker" in Florida usage relates to the whip that cowboys used to "crack" cattle out of the swamps and scrub
