Interesting parallels between firearms and pocket knives (bans).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24vJ4XjKv74

This hearing happened in Boston Mass last month. What are politicians thinking when they propose this stuff? If the common person can not be trusted with firearms or knives, by what reason should we trust politicians?

8. When you consider that there are over 80 million gun owners ...
it would seem that the overwhelming majority ARE responsible and CAN be trusted with their firearms.

2. Theater of the absurd
was one of those knives a basic Buck or Case folding knife? I got one of those when I was six.
Sounds like the girlfriend in the song had the right idea:

9. I liked the part where knives were compared to gateway drugs ...
as they lead to the ownership of more deadly weapons.

I guess that explains why I have enjoyed owning an shooting firearms for 50 years as I owned knives during my childhood.

And I still enjoy owning and collecting knives. I am carrying two as I type. One is a fully serrated folding knife with a 4" blade that I use for tough jobs like cutting wire.

Spyderco Endura

The other is a plain edged fixed blade knife with a 4 3/4" blade that I use mainly for food prep and lighter jobs. I prefer to use a fixed blade knife as it is far easier to clean after cutting items such as meat than a folder. After I finish this post, I plan to head out to the kitchen and slice up some potatoes, onions and peppers for some fried potatoes. (I could use some of my daughters kitchen knives but to me they are too dull and she refuses to allow me to sharpen them to my standards. She sometimes cuts herself while using her dull blades and fears she would slice off a finger with one of my razor sharp blades.)

13. We need to be able to stop the few people
from making more and more restrictive laws.

Kids can get knives from home.

If you ban knives they'll carry baseball bats.

If you ban baseball bats they'll carry rocks.

Some people will continue to make more prohibitive laws until almost nothing is legal anymore.

If you want to make more restrictive laws - go back to Europe.

What happened to the focus on the right for our citizens to choose?
