Child shot in Texas welfare standoff dies
Authorities say a 12-year-old girl shot by her mother during a standoff at a Texas welfare office has died.

Laredo police spokesman Joe Baeza said Ramie Grimmer died Wednesday at a San Antonio hospital. Her 10-year-old brother was in critical condition.

2. The mother was reportedly very mentally unstable
according to relatives. No link, but that's what local reports in San Antonio are saying.

Mentally unstable and a gun.

4. Keep relaxing gun laws while gutting mental health funding, Texas
and this is what you get.

6. Pre-conception laws might be a better start.
I believe that men/women should have a right to choose. It should start by choosing better partners. People need to think 20, 30 years into the future as they make decisions.

7. What laws were "relaxed" that enabled this?
Seriously question.

9. What crystal ball led you to that conclusion?
Cite the relevant 'relaxed gun law' please.

12. Sorry, but we will not be your moral punching bag...
Texas and most states have cut funding for almost every facet of government; it's the way of the smash 'n' grab Far Right. The gun laws in Texas are not much different than from those of other states; in some respects, they are more restrictive than in liberal Vermont.

You may wish to take another look at this case, and assign at least some of your pathos to the perpetrator of the murders.

8. Very sad.
Whatever your opinion of the mother, the kids had nothing to do with it.

All the child's potential, lost.

11. Try not to get any blood on your dancing shoes.
People have killed their children will all sorts of implements in the past. It may not have even made it 'easier'.
