U.S. Military Weapons in Gangsters' Hands

Gangs are acquiring highpowered, military-grade weapons more frequently, according to the latest National Gang Intelligence Center Report. And FBI and law enforcement officials suggest gang members -- both enlisted and those working at military bases as contract civilians -- may be funneling the firearms to their street-level counterparts.

In late July, 27 AK-47s were stolen from a Fort Irwin warehouse, officials said. Those close to the case, who would speak only under the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the subject, said investigators believe gang members were involved in the theft.

Who was it, not too long ago in this very forum, telling us that this type of shit never happens??

Which is just another reason that even if guns in civilian hands were completely banned, criminals would still be able to get them. One way or another.

The only thing gun control is good for is disarming law-abiding citizens. Criminals will always find a way, through the black market.

this kind of activity is inevitable; the amount of money available to corrupt legal civil institutions is often overwhelming, and efforts to quash such activities is more than met with cartel counter-measures. Consider this short list of cartel capabilities:

(1) Construction of armored cars, used in shoot-outs with whatever remains of Mexican law enforcement;
(2) Construction of numerous submersibles (submarines) to transport on the high seas dope or other contraband;
(3) Ability to out recruit Mexican LEO and military;
(4) Construction of many tunnels under the U.S./Mexican border;
(5) Establishment of corporate "fronts" which use the legal procedures established by the U.S. to purchase military-grade weaponry;
(6) And now, using civilian contractors within the U.S. to steal and smuggle military-grade weaponry.

The GOP has established a dominant stimulus-repose regime with the Democrats: The GOPers yell soft-on-drugs; the Democrats shy away (for the most part) from ANY meaningful change in the W.O.D. The result WILL be the increasing corruption of American institutions as futile attempts to maintain prohibition are exercised. We are numbly watching a horrific auto accident in slow motion.

10. Money is a prime motivator.

Those who profit big from drug and arms dealing are seeking most a simple profit. Much of the useful intell on this comes from agency cooperation through the El Paso Intelligence Center and the various agencies operating there. ATF is one of them. As long as the type of under-supervised activity that leads to leads to F&F like operations is unchecked, crime will flourish and useless bureaucrats will sink the careers of effective LEOs or, now and then, get them killed.
