Law And Order: Man is accused of pulling gun on girlfriend in car

A quarrel between a St. Peters couple that began at the Cardinals game Wednesday night escalated into the man pulling out a gun on the ride home, pointing it at his girlfriend, and firing shots out the window as the car sped down the interstate, police said.

James Marion Myers, 47, of the 700 block of Garden Bounty Drive, was charged with two counts of felonious restraint, three counts of armed criminal action and one count of unlawful use of a weapon. He was being held in lieu of $500,000 bail in the St. Charles County Jail on Thursday.

Police say that Myers and his girlfriend took her niece, 14, and nephew, 16, to the ballgame. The couple got into an argument about their relationship while there, and the fight continued on the way home.

Myers threatened to kill the woman, 31, and her relatives, waving a 9 mm handgun at them that had been under his car seat, police said.

> The are many law abiding gun owners.

That's a lie! Do you ever hear about them? No. All you hear about is one after another one of those violent gun idiots.

10. Moderators?
While this poster was rude to me, the post didn't break any of the rules. Why was it deleted? There's been a lot of very heavy-handed moderation here lately.

7. worst. argument. ever.
Do you really believe that? When was the last time you heard about a law abiding stamp collector, car owner, knife owner, tv owner. I have never heard a news article say "Man obeys law with VCR." If following the law was news worthy no one would watch the news. By the same token, "woman pulls gun, does not get raped in park" is not very news worthy ether.

How many of this countries 80 million gun owners have commited a crime?

8. years ago when we lived in CO, a woman who owned a gun, legally,
while at home, 2 men went to breaking in her front door, which was marked with "this premises guarded by Smith and Wesson" sticker. While they were breaking in the woman and half her neighborhood called the police. Police were slow, in the meantime they broke in, she shot one and the other took her gun away from her and shot her with it and ran away. The guy she shot died on the front lawn. While she was on her way to the hospital, in critical condition, the police having misssed the one live man, said they were considering charging the woman with shooting the one dead guy. This is not the only story like this I have heard.

9. strange
Why where the police considering charging the woman?

Firearms being taken from people is very rare, even for police who have to grapple with bad guys that know they are armed and where the firearm is located.

If someone went through the trouble of actually breaking my door down I would shoot them before they could get to me. I wonder if she hesitated for some reason. Tragic story. I guess the moral of the story is to have a plan incase the police do not get there in under a minute.(usually the case)

11. That Wouldn't Happen Any More In Colorado
We have what's called the "Make My Day Law", which allows a homeowner to use deadly force against an intruder if they felt their life was at risk.
