State bounty hunters get to keep guns
Link

<snip>

The prelude to the ruling - eagerly awaited by fugitive recovery agents, the so-called bounty hunters - were decisions in 2002 by judges in Morris and Cumberland counties on whether five agents met the criteria of "justifiable need" to carry a concealed weapon in picking up bail jumpers.

<snip>

NJ's gun laws are so messed up. A private citizen just wishing to carry for his/her own protection will never meet the criteria of "justifiable need."

1. Tell us, fly
why sane people in New Jersey would possibly want MORE guns on the street?

The Republican candidates for governor in 2001 and Senator in 2002 both told their idiotic followers during the primaries they wanted to hand out CCW permits....and then had to spend the general election campaign furiously denying they had ever said any such thing.

3. McCreevy is on the way out.
Newark and north Jersey are so out of touch with the rural New Jersey, like Cape May, where I am right now.

2. That one's headed to the federal courts for sure
Taylor v. Taintor decision is "bad law"???

That's outrageously arrogant of the NJ judge to overrule a long-established decision by SCOTUS. He ought to be impeached immediately. Better still, bring the state into the 21st Century by adopting a shall-issue law.
