Once upon a time, politicians courted sportsmen.

Maybe they weren't true lovers of the outdoors, but pols loved the he-man image and the vote potential that came from talking the talk. So they'd drag themselves out of bed before dawn and wrap themselves in camo or hop in a fishing boat for the photo opportunity.

The National Rifle Association museum in Northern Virginia displays a letter dated March 20, 1961 from President Kennedy to then-NRA president John Schoolley, talking about the pride that comes with being a lifetime member of the group.

1. Wally World sells “Deer Corn” (premium quality)
of course

I am not sure if it is of any better quality than say chicken, cow or pig corn but the idea is simple. The “hunter” feeds the deer during the late summer and early fall until the deer is relaxed and expecting food in the same spot. Then one frosty morning when the government says it is ok to kill deer, the biggest of the herd gets their guts blown out. The “hunter” can then brag about his skills.

Oh yeah Wally also sell “Whitetail Buck” grass seed, and special deer salt blocks, same principle applies.
:(

BTW, buying those things is a waste of time/money. They don't work.

4. I dont know about the others
but salt blocks work so good they're illegal in most states. As for the deer corn and grass i think they are mainly sold to keep populations of deer well fed and healthy. I think baiting is illegal in most states.

I left the NRA about 3 years ago when I found that their goals no longer aligned with mine.

12. Namby pamby
ADJECTIVE: 1. Insipid and sentimental. 2. Lacking vigor or decisiveness; spineless.
NOUN: Inflected forms: pl. nam·by-pam·bies
One that is insipid, sentimental, or weak.
ETYMOLOGY: After Namby-Pamby, a satire on the poetry of Ambrose Philips (1674–1749) by Henry Carey (1687?–1743).
WORD HISTORY: We are being very literary when we call someone a namby-pamby, a word derived from the name of Ambrose Philips, a little-known 18th-century poet whose verse incurred the sharp ridicule of his contemporaries Alexander Pope and Henry Carey. Their ridicule, inspired by political differences and literary rivalry, had little to do with the quality of Philips's poetry. In poking fun at some children's verse written by Philips, Carey used the nickname Namby Pamby: “So the Nurses get by Heart Namby Pamby's Little Rhimes.” Pope then used the name in the 1733 edition of his satirical epic The Dunciad. The first part of Carey's coinage came from Amby, or Ambrose. Pamby repeated the sound and form but added the initial of Philips's name. Such a process of repetition is called reduplication. After being popularized by Pope, namby-pamby went on to be used generally for people or things that are insipid, sentimental, or weak.

13. OK
I just think that organizations like the Violence Policy Center, Brady Campaign, MMM, and NRA are taking their tactic cues from PeTA.

15. Because everything
any of them say is so loaded with emotion, hyperbole, and half-truths, that they really embarass themselves. I do not think you can quote a source with an agenda and have another person believe that they are impartial and fair with all their statistics.
