1. Several weeks ago on CBS news, they had US soldiers
going from house to house looking for arms caches in a news
segment. During part of the segment, one of the higher ups
was telling the reporter during a search that they allowed
people to have a rifle and some ammunition, but were busting
people with RPG's, grenades, or 1000's or rounds of ammo and
many guns.

Don't know if that's a help, but that's all I've been able
to cull.

3. I just wanted to say this.
Everybody for gun rights should strongly enforce an Iraqi's right to a gun. It's only fair.

8. And according to the beliefs of the anti-gun control crowd.....

It's wrong to keep law abiding Iraqi citizens from obtaining weapons because all it does is make them defenseless against insurgents and any soldier/Iraqi force who might be about to kill some innocent people (not that killing innocent people is what most soldiers intentionally do, but some of them do it; just like cops in America have been known to kill Americans for no good reason).

Asking that the Iraqis not have guns is like asking the Americans to only allow the cops to have guns. Many Americans wouldn't trust that, and Iraqis shouldn't be expected to either.

6. I believe they can have a rifle
I think every adult male can have a rifle....I might be confusing Iraq with Afghanistan though.

I remember a story I saw somewhere about an Afghani guy who had his AK taken from him by the US military. He pitched a fit because he was ashamed to go home without it. Its a symbol of manhood over there and he was afraid his wife would think him weak and worthless if he couldnt have a rifle. Kinda sad.

7. And those are real military AK-47's and -74's over there...
not the non-automatic civilian lookalikes (i.e., fakes) you can purchase here in the U.S...

(proud owner of a SAR-1 civilian AK lookalike)
