Hamas vow to bring down Israel
Wed Sep 14, 7:11 AM ET

KFAR DAROM, Gaza Strip (AFP) - Officers from Hamas's militia are vowing to turn Gaza into a huge armed camp devoted to digging Israel's grave, with tunnels, rocket attacks and a free flow of weapons and militants from Egypt.

. . .

Commanders from Hamas's Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades armed wing spoke triumphantly of their post-Israeli withdrawal war strategy from the Gaza Strip.

They sketched out a vision of tunnels into Israel, regular rocket attacks on the Jewish state; a free flow of weapons and militants from Egypt; and constant smuggling to the West Bank.

They spoke of their determination to turn the strip of Mediterranean coast, home to 1.3 million people, into an armed camp intent on the destruction of the Jewish state with a Palestinian Authority powerless to stop them.

6. I will agree with you they are fools. But I am glad they are
spouting off; let the whole world know where they stand ( not that the world doesn't already know). But after they have Gaza now and still talk like this, the world will really get to understand how bad this group is and how much of the Palestinian population supports them. Get it out in the open: they don't want peace, they don't want to respond peacefully to Israel's peace offering, they don't want reciprocity with Israel, etc.

They're laying their cards on the table. It is not unexpected.

5. I think Israel gave seed money to Hamas to let there be an alternative
to the PLO.

That went well.

Who are these kooks who think they can control the outcomes 20 years away from their decisions?

Who are they? And shouldn't we intervene.

7. I think Hamas is the last thing on the planet Israel would want

around. About as much as the USA needs another Katrina.

Should we intervene? Right now, I would say no. I think this is a matter for the full force of the UN or a very strong multi-national coalition.

9. I meant a psychological intervention. So Israel doesn't give seed
money to a new group (with no elders) to fight Hamas.

Intervention in Israel - Palestine? No. Not. The one thing this war in Iraq may have done by failing is put Shirac a little closer to reality and a little closer to peace.

Like Gwyn Dyer, the military expert, said at the start of the War - the world needs the USA to fail in Iraq. So they have to take stock of what is possible vs. dreams that are Utopian.

I'm sorry it ever happened. Should have taken Saddam's offer of elections and then gone in with the UN if he lied.

One thing for sure. If outside corporations get all the profits in an occupation - the locals see no option but to keep fighting.

Why I am so worried about the UN. Cause corporations hate UN procurement laws. Means local people first benefit from local action..you know..so they may be inclined to invest in the country they are from..rather than attacking it.

What a mess.

Too bad antisocial personality types don't respond to psych interventions, according to the shrinks...nor long term therapy.

It is a mess.
