An Israeli helicopter fired three missiles into a Gaza town on Saturday in a strike on Palestinian militants, wounding two civilians, local witnesses and medics said.
The attack came minutes after Israeli ministers decided to resume targeted killings of militants as part of a concerted response to an upsurge of violence, including a barrage of rocket attacks on
Israel, by militant groups in the
Gaza Strip.
Medics said two missiles struck an open field in the town of Khan Younis, wounding two people. A third missile slammed into the courtyard of a nearby house.
The target of the strike was a group of militants from the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, part of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's
Fatah faction, witnesses said. None of the militants, was hurt in the attack, they added.
